TOPIC: KEEPING THE SPIRIT'S SEAL BY NOT GRIEVING HIM.

EPHESIANS 4:24-32. ROMANS 8:9.

As we look at verse 30 of Ephesians chapter 4, there's one word that comes out that we need to understand the word "sealed", He says, whereby we believers, we Christians, we saints, we righteous one are sealed, and then he says, we are sealed unto the day of redemption. It's a picture of a person that has a precious property, an important property, and he's traveling out of town, but before he travels out, he sealed his property and he put a stamp on it and he stamps his name on that sealed, and it's so secure, then he travels out, and he's coming back and the day of his return, is a day of recovery, it's a day of redemption, the day when he takes his property back, and to take that property back, he looks at the property and he see the seal of approval of ownership on that property, then he will take it to himself.

The Lord is telling us here by Apostle through the Spirit of God, he says we children of God, we are His inheritance, we are the property of the Lord, don't you know that you're purchased of the Lord? We are precious and peculiar He's gone up to heaven, to the far country He put His seal, which is the Holy Ghost on us, when you get saved, it's the Holy Spirit that bears witness, and when you're sanctified, it's the Holy Ghost that bears witness, and when you're baptized in the Holy Ghost, you're filled and immerse with the Holy Ghost, in fact we were told that, we are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. If we belong to God, we have this seal upon the purchased possession and the seal remains there, the seal is not something inanimate, is a living seal, that's the Holy Ghost, ‎He can be grieved you cannot grieve a bench, you can not grieve a chair, you cannot grieve a tree, you only grieve a living personality, and he says, the seal we have is the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost and He says, grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, and it's so very important that we understand this verse of the Scriptures.

The Holy Ghost is a seal on the true believers. And when He remains, these are His role:

I. The Holy Ghost is our Comforter, while he remains there upon us, he comforts us.
II. The Holy Ghost is our Guide, he guides our feet Into the way of heaven so that our destiny, our destination can be heaven. He's guiding us, he's our friend, and he's close by your side, grieve not your guide, so that he doesn't abandons you.
III. The Holy Ghost is our our Teacher, he's teaching us how to profit with the word, he's teaching us how to prosper in the way of righteousness, don't grieve your teacher, lest he stops teaching you.
IV. The Holy Ghost is our Intercessor. In the times of weakness, in time of powerlessness, he's the One that is praying for you, interceding for you like no man can. Grieve not your Intercessor.
V. The Holy Ghost is our  Strengthener. He's the One that strengthens us, he strengthens us in weakness, He strengthens us our times of trial, in the times of pressure, in times at cross road, he's the One that comes to strengthen us. Do not grieve your Intercessor, otherwise if he leaves you, know you're vulnerable and you're easily defeated.
VI. The Holy Ghost is our Power. He's the power of God in men, if we are going to remain powerful, bold and courageous, we need his partnership, grieve not the Holy Spirit who is given to you for power.
VII. The Holy Ghost is the Gift for Ministry, all those manifestation you read about in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 will not happen without the presence and the prominence of the Holy Spirit in your life. Grieve not the Spirit of God who manifests the gifts in your life.
VIII. The Holy Ghost is our "Seal", he's like an index indication, we are God's property and the Lord has put a seal upon us, and He says, grieve not the Spirit of God that is a seal, so that when the devil sees you, he will see that seal, when the evil people see you, they will see that seal, and because they see that seal upon you that's why they will not touch you, and that's why they cannot harm you. You seal now and the seal remains upon your life unto the day of redemption.

the things that grieve the Holy Spirit are like smoke in the nostril of the Spirit of God, and when you allow this smoke to come into your life, instead of him remaining there, he will get out because of the smoke.

What constitutes the Smoke that grieves the Holy Spirit?
✔️ Bitterness in the heart, that's a smoke.
✔️ wrath in your life, that's a smoke.
✔️ Anger, that's a smoke.
✔️ clamour, that's a smoke not only that you have wrath and anger, it gets hold of you and it takes the better part of your life and you're screaming, and you're shouting. That's the clamour.
✔️ an evil speaking that some people indulge in, he says put them away.
✔️ malice is a smoke that grieve the Holy Spirit. Those are the things that will constitute discomfort and grieve and sorrow to the mind of the Spirit of God, and because of that smoke, and because of all those traits and tendencies, he departs. In the other hand, you make sure that you grieve not the Holy Spirit.
✔️the Holy Spirit lives in the Atmosphere of Kindness,
✔️the Holy Spirit lives in the atmosphere of tenderness.
✔️the Holy Spirit lives in the atmosphere of forgiveness and mercy and compassion and love. That's what the Lord is teaching us tonight, that to grieve him is to make him withdraw and to leave us to ourselves. When anyone grieves the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit abandons him, he becomes empty, he becomes shallow, he's left to himself, he becomes natural, when the Power departed from Samson, he became like every other men, when the Spirit leaves, the person becomes carnal, he becomes nominal, he becomes powerless and he becomes vulnerable.

‎POINT ONE: RECOGNISING THE TENDENCY OF GRIEVING OUR HOLY GOD.

GENESIS 6:3,5-6; PSALMS 78:40-42; 95:10-11; HEBREWS 3:10-11,17,19. 1 SAMUEL 15:11-14,20-24; 2 CHRONICLES 36:16; ISAIAH 63:9-10; ACTS 7:51-53; HEBREWS 10:28-31; MATTHEW 23:37-38.

God can be grieved, Christ can be grieved, the Holy Ghost can be grieved, the Godhead can be grieved. God is a person, He can be grieved, and when God is grieved, He doesn't stay there where He's been grieved. Habitually, deliberately, intentionally we know the things that grieve Him, while we persists in those things, the Lord will not remain there. He's a person, He can be grieved, He can be sorrowful, He can be sad, and so when people are wicked, when people are corrupt, when people are evil, that grieves our Holy God.

Those children of Israel were saved, they were brought out of captivity, and the word of God here says, Very often they provoked God and grieved Him, He has saved them in the way He has sealed them, that none of heathen nation that pass through could touch them, but they broke the seal, they grieved the Lord until the Lord made the pronouncements, God was grieved because habitually, because deliberately and because intentionally they did things that were not in line with the Will of God who had called them and delivered them out of captivity, and He was leading them to the land of promise, for 40 years they couldn't know the ways of the Lord, always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. When they grieved Him, He said what He had promised them, a place and habitation in the land of promise, He withdrew the promise because they grieved Him without having the mind to repent. They always go astray in their hearts, they always displeased Him in their hearts, they always sin in their lives, look at your life, since you have claimed to be saved, since you claimed to be Born again, have you always be sinning, have you always be offending, have you always be grieving the Lord, have you always getting into transgressions that God was saying; where is the evidence of Salvation that you proclaimed, therefore, He was grieved with that generation and they eventually perished. Can you take a decision based on the ways of the Lord?  Can you say you know Him as a Holy God? He's a righteous God, He's of purer eyes to behold iniquity, those 40 years and God is still the same, whatever grieved Him, those 40 years like murmuring, like grumbling, like complaining, He's still God today God is ever the same, murmuring grieves the Lord, complaining grieves the Lord, grumbling grieves the Lord, and fighting against the way of the Lord grieves the Lord. So we see that, they could not enter in because of unbelief, unbelief grieves the Lord.

Saul had been chosen, and selected, and crowned to be King in Israel, and the Lord had sent him out to do something close to the heart of the Almighty God, he went and did part and he left part undone, and now the Lord says, He was going to reject him because he grieved God, and grieved Samuel His servant, you understand whatever grieves the Father, graves the Son, whatever grieves God, grieves the Godly, whatever grieves the Almighty will grieve Samuel who had appointed to choose Saul. Saul didn't performed the will of God and there are people like that, they are loud in their testimony, they are loud in their proclamation, but deliberately they have left undone what the Lord assigned them to do, and yet they will not agree, they think Samuel the prophet of God is blind and deaf and cannot hear, they think he cannot see the evidence of partial obedience, Saul knew the mind of God he knew what God wanted, but he did them not because of the fear of men, God eventually rejected him of being king. They fear of men in a worker, in the minister, the fear of men in any servants of God grieves the Lord. And so in your life when He says grieve not the Spirit of God, you will check up your life, you know the commandment of God, you know the word of the Lord, if you're not totally and fully obeying, it will mean because you fear men more than God, and that grieves the Lord, the Lord is grieved when His messengers are mocked, the Lord is grieved, when His words are despised, the Lord is grieved, when His prophets, proclaimers of the Gospel misused and then the Anger of the Lord, the judgement of the Lord will arise until there's no remedy. God had compassion on the people of Israel, but they rebelled and vexed His Holy Spirit, they rebelled and dishonoured the Holy Spirit, and God fought against them. As they did in the Old Testament, that's what they still continued to do after Christ had died for their sins on the Cross of Calvary. They kept on grieving the Spirit of God, apart from those Jew, there are gentiles that grieved the word of God, and eventually, because of their habitual carnal attitudes and their heartless corrupt nature, they kept on grieving the Lord, the people who are saved, they backslide, they were sanctified, but they backslide, and now they have counted the Blood of Jesus that saved them and sanctified them an unholy thing. No regard for that blood of the Lamb, they despised the Spirit of God that brought Grace into their lives. With all the Lord's warning, if the Spirit departs, they will end disgrace and grooming, when the Lord departs, and He says bye-bye, and you persisted in your evil and then He leaves you to yourself. The end will be terrible.

POINT TWO: RENOUNCING THE TRANSGRESSIONS THAT GRIEVE OUR HEAVENLY GUIDE..

EPHESIANS 4:30-31.

Renounce the seed of bad habit, the tendencies that grieve our Heavenly guide. Remember once again, we are God's property, we are Christ's peculiar Jewel and He has put the seal upon us which is the Holy Ghost, and He's gone to heaven to prepare a place for us, and He's coming back again, the day of His coming is a day of our full redemption, we have redemption now, forgiveness of our sins, we are going to have the final, irreversible redemption on that day when He comes back. And the Holy Ghost is given as a seal to seal us up so that we are identify as belonging to Him until that day of redemption.

What are the things that grieve the Holy Spirit that we should renounce?

I. Bitterness. Psalms 64:3-5; Romans 3:14-19; Ephesians 4:31;.

There are people that are bitter in the family, husband to wife, wives to husbands, parents to children, and children to parents. And there are pastors that utter bitter words against members of the church, it grieves the Spirit. There are members on the other hand, that speak often behind and sometimes those who are quite bold, those who are serous and those who say so what you will do, they can speak bitter words to their pastors, they wet their tongues like a sword, there are people who prided themselves, the fact that they don't fear anybody, even the pastors they know, they don't fear them, they don't fear any leader, they will say what they want to say, backsliding church workers grieves the Lord and when He's grieved, he put away from you and He leaves your life desolate. When somebody has salvation, he has Christ the Prince of Peace abiding inside him, when somebody does not have salvation, he doesn't have the prince of peace living on the inside, he's not a man of peace, he's not a member for peace. He's there for conflict, he's there for confrontation, there's no fear of God before their eyes those who grieve the Holy Spirit by bitterness, they are guilty before the Lord.

II. Wrath grieves the Holy Spirit. Colosians 3:8-9; 1 Timothy 2:8-9; Ephesians 4:31. The seal is upon the purchased property everywhere, when you're in the room all alone, he knows he sees when you're outside, he knows, he sees everything, every kind of lie does evil and so it grieves the Lord. There are some people who says there are white lies and another person take decision base on their white lies, that grieves the Lord, there are some people that tells us their lie is professional, they were trained to use lies, and to use it professionally, and there are people in this days of social media, they tell media lies, and the lie will deceive millions of people, all the media lies, they grieves the Spirit of God, there shall be no form of lying, lying comes from the devil, and if you indulge in any lie, you're already slave in the hand of Satan. You will not be in a place having a controversial kind of meeting organizations, how you will scattered your community, wrath not against your spouse, wrath not against anyone, wrath not against the Church, you know, the church is gone contributing something to your life, that's why you are coming, you should not have wrath against church, against your pastor, you shouldn't have wrath against anyone,it makes the Lord and your guide to be grieved.

III. Anger. Ephesians 4:31; Matthew 5:22. You might look at a Person and belittle him, Jesus said, all that kind of interaction with anger grieves Him. Before husband and wife goes to court for separation, there's a lot of session of anger, wrath and indignation, before member of the church can come out openly and pointing fingers on the local pastor, there's been a lot of anger in the private, and before two members can be discussing with frown, anger and trembling voice against anyone, there's been a lot of anger in the private, many people have forgotten we came to church as the gateway and the path to heaven, they have forgotten heaven, they are now like nominal church goers, and nominal church comers, they are not thinking about Heaven at all, they have forgotten the rapture, they have forgotten the day of redemption when the Lord will come for His seal possession, and for you coming to the pulpit and you utter words of anger on the pulpit, that grieves the Holy Spirit

IV. Clamour (Open / Loud Contention) grieves the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 11:16; 1 Timothy 6:3-5; Ephesians 4:31. You might be a young person and you might be an elderly person, maybe you just saw a person that owned you money, and when we just finished the service and somebody call your attention to that fellow, and then you rush there and grab him by his coat and then you're shouting in the church to let everybody knows ‎about the matter, clamoring, argumentative, fighting all these grieves the Holy Spirit, they have lost all those sense of the sacredness of the house of God, they have lost all sacredness of the ministers of God, that grieves the Holy Spirit.

V. Evil speaking grieves the Holy Spirit. Jude 1:8-13. There are people who take liberty for license, and what we didn't know in the midst of the children of God years gone by, we see it so often now, they have no respect for anybody, they have no respect for any leader in the community, in the nation, they have no respect for any leader's in the church, they have no respect for any pastor, any overseer in the church, they have no regard for anyone and they speak evil and they might even pass that evil to other people to speak in the presence of the whole church, it grieves the Holy Spirit, it makes us to look like the people who are forgotten, we should not strife against the priesthood. We as children of God should not keep any of these traits, we shouldn't keep any of these characteristics because they grieves the heavenly guide. They displeases our Father, and they dishonour the Saviour, grieving the heavenly guide, you will miss His favour, you will miss his guidance, you will miss his fellowship, you will lose his favour, you will lose his help and support, you will miss his grace and gifts, you will miss his freshness and fullness, you will miss his refreshing and renewal. In grieving him, you will miss his presence here, and his presence in eternity, you will miss his partnership here and you will miss his partnership in the future, you will miss his peace, you will miss his purity and his power, you will miss holiness, you will miss heaven at last. God help everyone of us that we will not grieve the Holy Spirit who has sealed us by whom we are sealed until the day of redemption.

POINT THREE. RETAINING THE TENDENCIES WHILE NOMORE GRIEVING THE HOLY GHOST.

EPHESIANS 4:32; ROMANS 12:10; COLOSIANS 3:12-13.

Now we understand, we need tendencies in our heart, we must have tenderness, peace, mercy, gentleness, that's what a child of God should be know with, a person that has witness of the Spirit, refreshment of the Spirit, the abiding presence of the Spirit, there should be tenderness, He wants us to be kind, generous, gentle, tender, that's the kind of disposition He wants us to have as Christians, you should have honour for another, honor for as sister, have honour foelr brothers, and have honour for your parents. We should be forbearing one another, forgiveing one another, this is the kind of disposition we should have. What is in inside will come out in the open, if your heart is tender, your words will be tender, and your action, your comments and your interactions will be tender.

What kind of disposition God wants us to have?

✔️ Tenderhearted. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-10; 2 Corinthians 5:18-26; we are to be bridge between sinners and the Saviour, and as bridges, you will be tender, kind, gentle, and merciful and you will be loving.

✔️ Forgiving one another. 1 Peter 3:8-9; 1 John 5:16-17; Acts 26:36; Ephesians 4:32. God wants us to forgive, He wants forgiveness in the house of God, but He doesn't wants that forgiveness to be come a license to keep on spoiling everything in the house of God, you might become a Koran, be careful, you might be come Judas Iscariot after warning, be careful, you might perish in your sin and when you perish in your sin, you will go to hell fire forever and ever, don't gamble with your Salvation and your eternal life, God forgives, but by just taking God for granted, you might cut yourself off from life eternal and then you commit the last one that doesn't have forgiveness. Have compassion towards one another, and as people are forgiving you and having compassion on you, have compassion with them too, when people sin, they fall, they backslide, but mercy is still waiting for them, the second death has not been climbed on them, but there are people that keep on sinning and sinning like Judas Iscariot, and then they get to the point of no ‎return and the second death climb on them. When the Spirit of God is still pleading with you to come back home, pray, repent and seek the face of God but when the Spirit keep quiet and He will no more please with you, that's terrible. And when you go on and you're hardened in sin and the Spirit of God has been withdrawn, you have grieved Him, that's terrible. I pray, none of us will get to that point. The Spirit of God is still faithful and he's still pleading, when you repent, mercy is available for you.

✔️ Lead others to Repentance. Acts 26:16-18; 5:30-31; 13:38; Colosinas 1:14; 1 John 1:9; 3:4-9; 5:18. We preach to sinners that they may receive forgiveness of sins, that we are tender doesn't mean we shouldn't tell sinners to repent, Jesus  bore our punishment, and our pains and our perdition, that's why we are preaching unto people the forgiveness of sin, after forgiveness, He gives us Power to go and sin no more. Those who continue and sinning and sinning on the basis that pastors has no choice than to forgive them, that's not a child of God, that's a backslider, that's fallen away, if he's not careful, he can go beyond the point of redemption. There are people that readjusted the scriptures, they says somebody that is born again can still sin, they don't realize their own deception, they tell people that, only not to make the practice, they said, you can sin in a while, they can do evil once in a while, God the Judge will not set that sinner free, habitually sinner, occasionally sinner, deliberate sinner, careless sinner, a sinner is a sinner, but He that is born of God does not commit sin, God will give you the Grace, power, strength to go and sin no more, and Satan will not put a sin down to your throat IN Jesus Name Amen. ‎We know by experience, we know by the power of God that whosoever sinneth is not of God, but he that is begotten of God sinneth not, the devil will not touch your life, he will not force you to do evil, you will not blaspheme the Holy Ghost, you will not grieve the Holy Spirit, you will live a life that has kindness, that has tenderness, that has forgiveness, that has mercy, that has Love and mercy, and you will be sharinh peace and compassion in the body of Christ IN Jesus Name Amen.
