MESSAGE ANCHORED BY THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.
TOPIC: SUPERNATURAL VICTORY OF GOD'S COMMISSIONED SERVANTS.
TEXT: JOSHUA 1:1-9.
Whenever we come to any passage of scripture, it will be good to go through those verses for proper understanding and interpretation of the word of God, and it's part of our training that we go through those verses, and see what the Lord is telling us from the passage of the day.
And the reason why I take up this text is so that you will know how to interpret the Bible, and how to apply the Bible, in fact, there's another area that shows us how to pray read, and read pray the passage. What that means is, you read verse one and you take everything in verse One, and you turn it to prayer. You also read verse two, you analyse verse two, and apply it to yourself, and then you turn it to prayer. The same thing in verse three, it go on to the end of those verses, and we are praying reading the verses, then we will be able to know what God is actually telling us to do. after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. And the Lord said unto Joshua that, there shall not any man be able to stand before him all the days of his life, and the Lord also assured him that, as He was with Moses, so He will be with him, and He will not fail him, nor forsake him.
As you come to verse five of Joshua chapter one, already God has given you an assignment to fulfil, and for you to fulfil that assignment, you need to take this verse five to prayer and say, Love, you have promised in this great assignment You have given me that no man shall be able to stand before me, you look at the men that are challenges to you, you look at the persecutors and the opposers that are challenges to you, you can mention there names while you're praying if you know their names, and you will take their evil perpetration to God in prayer, and you will say, Lord, these persecutors will not cut short my ministry, You said, I will not crumble and You promised never to fail me before these persecutors, and the Lord is always true, He will always fulfil His word that no man, whatever the name, whatever the stature will be able to stand before me, and then you said, all the days of my life you will be with me. That's how you should take that verse five to prayer. Then you remind the Lord how He's true with you at the beginning of the ministry, and how He is true with you when you thought you could not overcame the people before you, and you remind the Lord that He has said all the days of your life He will be with you, Lord, am I as strong today as I was before? Make me strong and then tomorrow and to the end of my life. Lord, you said as You were with Moses, you were with him before Pharaoh, he was not afraid and he went on as if he see Him Who is invisible, equip me today, that's how you pray on that verse, tell the Lord to energize you today, and no Nebuchadnezzar will be able to defeat me, and whatever Regine of government may be there in my country, Lord, make me to stand, if you were with me, one with God is a Majority, it means I'm stronger than all the things that are challenges my life, Lord, You said you will not fail me, this is what I need to make my ministry move on, this is what I need to carry on the ministry, Lord, you said you will not fail me, I believe you will not fail me, and you said you will not forsake me, I know there's no problem that will challenge my life beyond your equipment, and beyond your provision, and if you don't know how to pray and you don't even know what to say when you're praying, and once you pray for five minutes, or ten minutes you're through, you don't even know what to say again, you take that passage of the day and verse by verse, you pray through them and by the end, then you're inspired to even pray more on those verses.
After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD called Joshua instead of Moses, God Himself said that Moses was still His servant even after his death, and there should be no doubt in the heart of Joshua, and in the heart of the children of Israel that even though God said, that Moses will not go into the land of Canaan, yet, he went to Heaven, and after his death, God still said, Moses was His servant.
God said unto Joshua, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. We understand that the passing on of a man of God does not stop the word of God, and it does not stop the work of God, His servant passes on, yet Jehovah is still there, His servant passes on, the work of the Lord is still there, and the gospel still goes on, even though Macedonia is gone, even though John Wesley is gone, even though the people we have known that carried the gospel of God, they have gone, the Master abides and Master remains.
And the Lord told Joshua that, every place that the sole of his foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. The Lord has given the promise to Abraham, and then He repeated it to Moses, and now He said the whole land will be for Joshua by promise, but in practice, if you're not going to possess any parts your foot does not tread upon, the same thing with all the promises of God, we are not going to possess whatever parts our foot has not tread upon.
And the Lord told Joshua that there shall not any man be able to stand before him all the days of his life: as He was with Moses, so He will be with him, the Lord said He will not fail Joshua, nor forsake him. Now that you have known the parameter, and the perimeter, and the territory that you're to cover, he has given everything to you, it's not yours now because your foot has not tread upon them.
the Lord told Joshua that there shall not any man be able to stand before him all the days of his life: He said as He was with Moses, so He will be with him, and He will not fail him , nor forsake him. We don't have any fear, we don't have any concern, there's no worry, there's no anxiety, God is greater than all men, God is greater than all persecutors, God is greater than all oppossers, and He has said, He's nearer than the persecutors, and He's nearer than the man or the woman that you may fear. He says, there shall not any man be able to stand before us all the days of our lives: as He was with Moses, so He will be with us: He says, He will not fail us, nor forsake us.
The Lord told Joshua to be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Actually, that is the very foundation and the solid ground upon which to built every other things, without courage, we will not take a step, without a courage, Joshua will not face the Canaanites, without courage, you will be weak in yourself, without courage, you will be nursing the wound of yesterday, without courage, your vision will be blur, and the revelation will be cloudy, without courage, you will not even want to rise up in the morning and get out of bed, without courage, we will be nothing.
The Lord said unto Joshua to be only strong and very courageous, that he mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses His servant commanded them, the Lord told Joshua not to turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that he mayest prosper whithersoever he goest. Verse 7 talks about being strong and being courageous, and He repeats it again that Joshua should be courageous, whatever knowledge you have, without courage, that knowledge will be in the fridge, it will be in the freezer and it will not be useful , it will not be edible, and it's not profitable, and without courage, you will not have strength in your backbone, without courage, there's no strength in your voice, without courage there's no strength in your decision, we need courage, so that we can be strong. That's why God said unto Joshua to Only be strong and very courageous, that he mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses His servant commanded them: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. When you have courage, you will be able to obey, you will be able to carry out to keep all the law, lack of courage makes us to only do little, our problem is not lack of knowledge, we have the knowledge, we know when to say no, we know when to resist the enemies, we know when to forge ahead and grab and grip what the Lord has ordained. But it's the lack of courage that makes us not to be able to do what God has appointed for us to do. He says we should turn not from His commandments to the right hand, or to the left and. When you do that, you're weak in your conviction.
The Lord said unto Joshua that, this book of the law shall not depart out of his mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Meditating on the word of God gives us confidence and courage. While you're at home inside your chamber, you're gone over the pages of scripture, and you meditated on the promises of God, you're meditating on the power of God, and you're meditating on the precepts of God, you're meditating on the possibilities with God, and before you came out of your chamber, you're already a giant, a champion and so when you come out, all the things you see than the people you see, they do not become an overwhelming Goliath over you because you have read the word of God, you have applied it, you have meditated upon the word of God before coming out.
And the Lord repeated it to Joshua in verse 9, and He said, Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. That's the third time the Lord told Joshua to be strong if you look at verse 9, if you were to turn that to prayer, and you say, Lord, you have commanded me, the Highest Authority on earth has commanded, the Highest Authority among Angels has commanded, the commandment is clear and what we are to do is clear, and I am going in the strength of that commandment because the Lord has commanded me to be strong, it means I have the well without to be strong, you couldn't command me to be something I could not be, you told me to be strong, Lord, I am strong, I'm of good courage and I will not fear a little baby that was born last week, I will not fear a young man that is just standing out, that's what you are to say, and you will not be afraid of anything behind the curtain, and you will not be afraid of Satan and those demons, you will say, Lord, I'm not afraid of anything invisible, and all the conspiracies of Satan, and those demons. You will also say, Lord, I'm not afraid, I'm not dismay, my mind and my heart are clear, I know the way I'm going and I'm going to reach there. You're ahead of me, you're on top of me, underneath thee are your everlasting arm, Lord, I thank you that I'm not going to fail in the work you have committed into my hands, and you're reading the word of God and praying through what you're reading, that's why we need to take the scriptures more seriously and as we do this, you'll be stronger, you will be higher, and you will be fearless to do the work of God IN JESUS Name, Amen.
POINT ONE: THE COLLECTIVE CONSIDERATION OF THEIR GREAT COMMISSION.
JOSHUA 1:3-5; HEBREWS 13:5; PSLAMS 2:8.
Here the Lord is talking to the children of Israel collectively, and so the Lord told Joshua to mobilize all the children of Israel and their army in particular, and the Lord said, he should tell them the direction to go, and the Lord said, if the feet of the army of the children of Israel stand in anyplace, they will possess that place. If we look at our state, if we look at all the local government, if we look at all the various in mission, and we put a local church there and we are not waiting for member before we do that, and our foot will tread in that place, and the voice of the Gospel will come up in that place, and there's a women ministry there, there's a children and youth and campus ministry there, we are going to possess that land. The Lord told Joshua that from the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. The remorse area and the placea even when humanity has not got to, we are going to possess, even though the power of darkness dominates that place, they were there because we have not come, and once we come Satan will relocate, once we come, evil spirit will relocate, once we come, all those ocultic people will relocate, and all the people that are oppressing the people, we will tell them to go because light has come and darkness must vanish away. And those lands shall be our coast. We must plant churches everywhere, we must take hold on the word of God firmly, and when you take the word of God and you hold onto the promises that cannot fail, no man will be able to stand before you, they will carry their shrine out of that place, and God will establish the gospel there, because the Lord says, there shall not any man be able to stand before us all the days of our liives: as He was with Moses, so He will be with us: He will not fail us, nor forsake us. All the evidence of the old man and old age that will not allow you to rise up and move into the territory that God has appointed for you, the Lord is going to remove everything from your life tonight. As He was with Moses before the rock when there was no water, He was before with Moses before Pharaoh who said you will not see my face anymore, as He was with Moses, and before all the children of Israel, He have the command and all of them are conquered. As He was with Moses, and he raised up his hand and his rod, and Joshua was conquering, and when he lend down the rod, the Amalekites were conquering, and he raised up the hand permanently, and permanent victory came.
As He was with Moses before the red sea, He will be with you and that read sea will part before you, Jordan will divide before you, there are many people that when they read their bible, they don't read with both eyes, they closed the right eyes and they read with the left eye, so all they can see there is what they can see with the left eye, they close their left eye and they open their right eye, and when they read, all they can see is what they read with the right eye, whenever you're reading the Bible, make sure you open both eyes so that you will see what God has ordained for you, and what eyes have never seen you will see, what ears have never heard you will hear, and what has never entered into the heart of man, it will enter into your heart, and what God has prepared for you, you will discover. Love God, read His word and the giant in you is going to rise up, He said, He will never leave us and He will never forsake us, He said it in the Old Testament and He also repeats it in the New Testament, and it's our collective great commission and as we are moving on, we are going to possess the land, we are moving on, we are going on to possess, we can possess our country, we can take the gospel everywhere, we can penetrate every part with the Gospel, we can all agree together, and we are going to ask the Lord according to the promises that will not fail, the Lord will give unto us, and we must possess, in our lifetime, it's going to happen, by the Grace of God, it's going to happen, in the power of the Spirit, it's going to happen. We will possess this country and the gospel of Christ will spread abroad.
POINT TWO: THE CONTAGIOUS COURAGE OF A GODLY CONQUEROR.
JOSHUA 1:6-7,9. 10:12-13,24-25
if a leader is courageous, the followers will be courageous, if the Shepherd is courageous, the sheep, the Saints, the members of the church will be courageous, if the pastor is courageous, the people will be courageous, but smite the shepherd, and then the shepherd become weaken, somebody that does not have any backbone, let's smite the shepherd, and let the shepherd become like an infidel, and the rest of the people following, they will not have courage, but if the leader has courage, if the pastor, parents, champion leader has courage, then the followers will be courageous because courage is contagious when a godly conqueror is leading the way, thank God that courage will spill over to you. If a child of God sit down by the side of the road, and he drops his head and he's weeping and weeping and cry, and he has the Bible in his hand, but he closes the Bible and he said, he's discourage, he's weak, he doesn't have strength and he cannot go on anymore, the Lord will look at him and pass by, he's not taken the work and the word that God has given him that will make him strong and transfer heaven's energy into his life, and he's sitting down there like an orphan, but thank God you're not an orphan, take the courage, you have A Father in heaven, He's the Creator of the heavens and the earth, He's the One that makes the weak strong, He's the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and if there's any sickness, if there's any weakness, He can take everything away in one moment of time, you have A Father in heaven, and He will not leave you alone, He'll not abandon you by the way side, and He has told you that He has something for you, get it from Him, swallow it and be courageous, get it inside you and be strong, meditate on the word of God He has given us, that word is creative, it has a creating power to recreate you tonight IN Jesus Name Amen. Be strong and the work that God has given you no body else will do it, the assignment God has given you, nobody else will Replace you, yes God has a thousand people that can do that work, but He has decided in heaven that you are the One to do it, and if you will do it, you don't need any other things, just be strong and very courageous, if you are strong and courageous, you will see the victory and you will possess the land. You will have everything that the Lord has for you IN Jesus Name Amen. Don't deviate, don't be diverted, don't be distracted, and you will prosper. When God has given you a commandment and you're about to do that work, and somebody comes to challenge you, you will point to the Almighty the One that will crush and conquer every opposser. The Lord is by your side, be not afraid, the Lord is going before you, be not afraid, the Lord is coming behind you, be not afraid, His umbrella is over you, don't be afraid, He that touches you, touches the apple of His eyes, don't be afraid, wherever you go, no accidents on your way, no evil personality in your way, you will stand in the morning, and then you have your megaphone and you're preaching the gospel, no harm will come to you, in the night, you're going to Bible study, and you're coming back from the Monday Bible study, no harm will happen to you, and if you're dutiful, you're doing what God has called you to do, no evil will come upon your life IN Jesus Name. His Angels will surround you, His Power will overshadow you, wherever you go, He will be with you In Jesus Name Amen. Joshua had courage that not just to conquer the Canaanites, the Hivites and all those enemies, he did the undoable, you're going to do undoable things with courage you have that the Lord has given us, you're going to command every hindrances out of your way, and they will move, until you finish, hindrances out of your way, the Lord will fight for you, you don't need any other things, He has given you the promise, the promise will not fail in your life, don't stay far away, come nearer, what God told Joshua, he made used of that, and he overcame. God has told him to fear not, and he gave that to the children of Israel, God told him not to be dismayed, and he told the children of Israel not to be dismayed, God told Joshua to be courageous and strong, and he was courageous, tonight the Lord is telling you to be courageous, and you will be stronger, higher and courageous that you were before, more courage and more conqurable the Lord will defeats all your enemies that come against your life, you're going to be victorious, and that courage in Joshuah will be passed on you tonight and on all of us IN Jesus Name Amen.
POINT THREE: THE CONSTANT COMPANIONSHIP OF OUR GLORIOUS CAPTAIN.
JOSHUA 1:5,9,17; ISAIAH 41:10,14-15; JEREMIAH 1:7-10,19; 15:21; 31:11; 2 TIMOTHY 4:18.
We go many places, we go difference places, and the Lord is telling us to fear Not, He's always with you.
Maybe you're going to your in-laws to be, you want to ask the hand of their daughter in marriage, and you have heard about her father, the person you want to get married to have been telling you that her father is difficult, you cannot even know his mind, even when he wants to say yes and he wants to accept, but all of the sudden he looks at you and is like he was asking, what are you doing here? Who told you to come to our family? If you're not careful, you will give up, but if God has given you His daughter to marry, no matter how difficult that man or that woman, as you go there, you will go with breakthrough, and you will go with assurance, if God has given you that lady to be your wife, nobody can contend with that, the Lord will go with you. He is giving you that man, then you're going to the marriage committee and you're afraid because you don't know what question they are going to ask you, go, the Lord will be with you, or you're going for an interview, and you don't know what question they are going to ask you, go and the Lord will be with you, the Lord is speaking expressly to you that you should not be afraid, He will bend the heart of the people towards you, He will bend the minds of the people towards you, they will not be so difficult and run you out of the calling God has given you IN Jesus Name Amen. He's going to be an encouragement to you, all your discouragement are gone IN Jesus Name Amen. That thing telling you in your mind that you will not succeed is a lie, you will succeed, it's written down in heaven by God Himself, He's with you, you will succeed IN Jesus Name Amen. He will be with you.
God will put testimony in your mouth, the Lord is going with you, you will not fear, He will not fail you, the word of God is in your mouth, the Lord said, He have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. You have a work to do, it will be done, you're set free out of the hand of the terrible, you're delivered, they will not overcome you, and they will not overpower you, the strength of the Lord, the power of God is going with you, victory all the ways through, you're no more weaker vessel, you're now a stronger vessel, be it confirm in your life IN Jesus Name Amen, you your life will be fruitful, and if you will take the word of God and read everything, and take it to the Lord and you pray through, you will see victory like you never seen before, you're going to have victory like you never had before in your life, if you believe the word of God, He will never leave you, He will never forsake you, and you're going to have overcoming strength like you never had before.
