MESSAGE ANCHORED BY THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.
TOPIC: THE DIVINELY REVEALED WAY OF ESCAPE FROM ETERNAL JUDGEMENT.
HEBREWS 2:1-4.
The writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews, emphasized the fact that, this was not the first time people were hearing the word of God, the Epistle said, people ought to give heed to the things they have heard, over and over, and times without number they have been hearing the word of God, but he emphasized and he revealed the way of escape from eternal Judgment to come. And he's talking to us at this dispensation, that it's not enough to hear the word of God, as the word of God is coming to us, we ought to give earnest heed to the things we have heard, we need to give more earnest heed to the word of God coming to us everyday.
The Writer of the Epistle emphasized the matter of Giving heed to what we have heard before because of these following reasons:
✔️It's so easy to hear and allow it to slip away from us.
✔️ it's so easy to hear and forget.
✔️ it's so easy to hear and not think about what we have heard.
✔️ it's so easy to hear and ignore.
✔️ it's so easy to hear and we are not calculating, we are not planning, and we are not building our lives on what we have heard.
✔️ it's so easy to hear and neglect.
And so he admonishes us, and he said we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, and we shouldn't allow them to slip away from us. He's talking quite a lot of things we ought to do. He's talking to every believers to give more earnest heed to what we have heard. And if you have been in the church for such a long time, that is not the matter, you must begin to recollect what you have heard lest that anytime they slip away from you. It's not just to be present in the meeting with us, a time comes in our lives, maybe times of adversity, it maybe a time of prosperity, it maybe a time of getting married, it maybe a time of having children, it maybe a time we are celebrating something, it maybe time of achievement, at anytime, that's the time we need to recollect the word of God we have heard, that's the time we need to bring in the word of God we have heard, lest at anytime we should let them slip away from us. And the word of God says, how shall we escape if we neglect, if we ignore, if we just overlook the word of God, how shall we escape that terrible day of eternal judgement? But if we are going to escape that day of final Judgment, as we are hearing the word of God, we are not rejecting it, we are not contradicting it, and we are not saying, it's not true, and we are not just saying, we don't believe it, but if we neglect, if we ignore so great Salvation purchased by the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ, planned by the Father, revealed to us by the great sevenfold Spirit of God, how shall we escape the final Judgment if we neglect the great salvation that is so great? We need to understand that, the great salvation Jesus Christ purchased by His blood is great enough to lift us from earth and take us to heaven. That great salvation is able to remove the greatest of mountains in our lives, it's able to remove the great sins in our lives, that great salvation is able to set us free from the greatest power of Satan or enemy. Then how shall we escape if we neglect, if we ignore that so great Salvation? This salvation we are talking about is not a new kind of Salvation that is limited to the first century, it's not a new generation salvation, it's the same salvation that Jesus Christ spoke about, and it's the same salvation that Jesus Christ provided for us, this is the same salvation the Apostles got from Christ, and then that salvation presented them to God. This is the same salvation all the ministers in the New Testament and the first century until this time got, it's the same salvation John Wesley and all the great servants of God preached, and from that time to this time what they revealed unto us is still the same. How shall we escape if we neglect that great salvation, that God also confirming, bearing them witness. But tonight as you make a wise decision, you will escape, you will not neglect and you will not reject and you will not ignore the great salvation Jesus Christ purchased by His Blood.
POINT ONE: THE INCOMPARABLE GATEWAY TO THE FINAL ESCAPE.
HEBREWS 2:3; GENESIS 19:12-17,26; JUDE 1:7; JOB 11:13-14,20; EZEKIEL 17:18-19; HEBREWS 12:25-29; MATTHEW 7:13-14; JEREMIAH 48:19.
There's going to be a time of eternal Judgment at the end of the life of everyone that comes to this world, and there's a gateway we pass through and through that gate we escape that final Judgment, there's no other gateway like this, there's no other comparable gateway and there's no alternative way, this is the way, and that way is JESUS, we can walk in that gateway of escape through repentance and Faith in Christ, without repentance, without believing in Christ, and without Salvation you can not walk on that gateway of escape. And as we talk about the escape, this is escape from judgment.
How do we escape that final eternal Judgement?
✔️ the word of God says, the people that neglecta and refused the spoken word of Angels, they will pay for that devastation and condemnation coming upon them. It happened right from the Old Testament, at the time of Lot, the Lord was about to destroy the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, but the Lord had mercy on Lot, and He sent Angels to Lot And the Angels said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed. We can see that, the decision was not a decision of Angels, it's by the Lord, and the Lord sent those Angels to Lot, and Lot got the message, and Lot understood the message, that the Lord will destroy the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, but people neglected the message, this is talking about escaping Judgment and consequences of the iniquity of the people, many people will hear the warning but they can linger, and they can get into the Judgement by Just lingering. And while Lot lingered, the Angels laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. God showed mercy on Lot, we need to understand that, salvation is by the mercy of God and by His Grace, and this was the Grace manifested to Lot and his wife, and his two daughters.
We need to understand there are two sides to escape.
I. We escape through The mercy of God.
II. It depends on your own decision, your own decision, your own response and your own taking heed is very important, so that you will escape and you will not be lost. There are people that say, their Gospel is a Gospel of done, that God has eradicated all the sins they ever committed, present sins and future sins, they believe that Jesus Christ has died for their sins, and the Grace of God covers their present and future sins, and they continue living in sin. They think they don't have to repent, they can linger, they can swim in their sins, they commits sin as they want because they think everything is settled. Although everything has been settled on the Cross of Calvary, but you have to do something in your own side, even though the Grace of God is much more abound, you need to repent, you need to believe in Christ, not only believe, you must stop sinning. that's why it tells us that Lot, his wife and his daughters have responsibility of what they must do. Even with the mercy that the Lord has shew us, if you don't do your part, you will not escape the final judgment. And while Lot and his family were going, his wife didn't escaped fully, and she looked back and eventually she became a pillar of salt. And all those people in Sodom and Gomorrah, they didn't escaped, that's why the Lord is telling us now, that we have something to do, and we need to do it urgently, and you need to keep your decision so that you will escape that final day of judgement. If there's any iniquity in your hand, whether you claim to be saved or not, that's not the problem, whether you've been in the church for a long time, that's not the problem, if iniquity be in your hand, you can not escape the final judgment. If you're even worker in the church, that's not the problem, but if there's iniquity in your hand, you will not escape the final judgment. The Lord is not looking at your church denomination, He's not looking at your area of service, He's not looking at the title you claim, He's not looking at any other things, but if iniquity be in your hand, put it far away from you, let not sin, let not wickedness, let not evil things dwell in your life. Anyone claiming a great title, anyone claiming a great ministry, a great privilege and yet if there's wickedness or sin or iniquity, He says you will not escape and your hope shall be as a giving up of the ghost. Thank God we will escape. Repentance and Obedience to God's word is a gateway, there's a gateway of repentance and there's a gateway of turning away from everything that is evil. The blood of Jesus Christ comes and it cleanses our hearts, His blood washes our lives and He makes us presentable before the throne of the Almighty God. There are people that base eternal salvation on the decision of a moment, they claimed to give their lives to Christ by raising up their hands during the altar call, and temporarily at that time they repented and they asked Christ to come in and stay in their hearts, they makes decision of a moment, and they think after that decision they could do whatever they want to do, they could break that covenant, they could forget their commitment to the Lord, they could forget the work of Grace that the Lord has done in their hearts, they just go on living merrily and in all the sins of the world, they breaks that covenant with Christ, such people shall not escape the final judgment. The way of escape is to make sure that we come through the gate and we are walking in the way that leads to life everlasting. There's a way we ought to walks in, that's why we were told in Hebrews 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: the Lord is still speaking today, He didn't only speaks at the end you were born again, He's still speaking today and He says, we should walk in the way of Obedience to fulfil His will, there are some people that read their bible upside down, they claimed to go to seminary and learnt theology, they said they stand on their perspective, they erroneously tell people that in the New Testament dispensation, once they repent and you give your life to Christ, that's the Final, they encourage people to commit sin more, they tell people that whatever they do after that it's not rarely matter, they give people license to keep on sinning, and they tell people that after they give their lives to Christ, whatever sin they commit after their profession is not matter at all, they tell people that God has forgiven their past, present and future sins. They think they are magnifying the Grace of God by teaching people erroneously, and the Lord is still saying, if we are going to escape the final judgment, we must have the Grace to sin no more, we must have the Grace to help, we must have the Grace to strengthen, we must have the Grace to make us a man and a woman we ought to be, Grace of God is available, but there's something we must do to sustain that Grace. The people who says the God of the Old Testament dispensation is different from the God of the New Testament dispensation, they said the Old Testament God was a God of wrath and indignation, and Judgement and He hates sin, and the New Testament God according to them, He's an indulgent Father that you can even commit sin right in His presence, those people who teaches people erroneously shall not escape the wrath of God. We must understand that, the God of the Old Testament is the God of the New Testament dispensation, He never changed, and this tells us that, our God is a consuming fire, and if you do what you ought to do, that fire will not consume you. Ask the people that fled from the wrath of God and they received the mercy of God, ask Jeremiah, ask Isaiah, ask Ezekiel, ask Paul and others, they fled from the wrath of God and now they are in the Kingdom of God, they are now in the everlasting, eternal Kingdom of God. They held the word of God firmly, and they believed and lived obedient life according to the word of God.
POINT TWO: THE IRREPLACEABLE GOODWAY TO THE FUTURE ESCAPE.
JEREMIAH 6:16; ISAIAH 53:6-11; JEREMIAH 18:5-10; EZEKIEL 18:29-32; HOSEA 10:13,12; MARKS 12:14,17; HEBREWS 10:19-23; 3:10-14.
The escape we are talking about is not just escape for now, it's an escape in the future, that's on the final day, and when that future time will arrive, and when the day of judgement shall arrive, if you have repented and you're living according to the word of God, there's this good way, and it's the only way we can take so that we will escape, and it's irreplaceable, it's not what the new generation can discover, they can not discover something different from this good way, this way is a good way and it's irreplaceable, and if we are going to escape the future, we must do what the Lord is telling us to do. There's no other alternative, this is the only way we walk in, if you want to escape and if you want to get out of that eternal judgement, and you want that eternal judgement to escape you and to get over you so that you will not perish forever, you must discover that way.
Isaiah tells us that the Lamb that will take away our sins is coming, and when He comes, through His chastisement we will have Peace, and then by His stripes, our souls, our mind, our body, our spirit will be healed, and he says because God has laid on Him the iniquity of us all, He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. He borne the pain, He borne the Judgment, He borne the chastisement, and He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see his seed, He shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah tells us that He's the Final Sacrifice and He's the full sacrifice. He has totally fulfilled the demands of God's righteousness, and so you can go to Him and have all your sins laid upon Him, we must turn from the evil way, a sinner have to turn from evil, the backsliders have to turn from evil, the careless believers who are neglecting their salvation, who lives from day to day and they never seek for salvation, and they think the salvation is secure and ready, they just live their lives carelessly, they barely can't have quiet time, they barely can't have personal reading of the Bible, apart from what they hear in the church when they are able to come, such people have to turn from their evil way and turn to Christ.
✔️ If you take the Grace of God for license to commit sin.
✔️ if you take His Promise for license to do evil.
✔️ if you take His goodness for license to commit atrocity.
✔️ if you take His Mercy for license to commit sin, and you do even in the Sight of God, you shall not escape the final judgment of God. If you do evil in the sight of God, that you obey not His voice, then He will repent of the good, wherewith He said He would benefit them, and He will reverse every Promises He says He will bring to pass in your life. People might think you're alright when you're doing evil, you yourself might thing you're alright when you commit sin, if you do evil in the Sight of God, you will not escape the final judgment. He's the Lord who will evaluates our lives and He will judge everyone accordingly, and if you're going to escape that day of Judgement, be obedience, obedience is the good way of the Lord, repentance is the good way of the Lord, turning away from evil things is the good way of the Lord, if we are going to have the future escape from the judgement of God, He says we must repent, it's so clear in the word of God what the good way is. There are people who surrounds themselves with mighty men like a shield protecting them to go ahead and do what they want to do, but you know, the Judgement of God will still come, and those people that encourage others to go out and commit crime, they do evil but God is not going to overlook at that, and consider the strong who are encouraging them to commit sin, judgment will come upon them, the scriptures tells us clearly in the book of Hosea, that we should Sow to ourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. If your heart is harden in sin, break up your fallow ground, Christ is the True way, He's the One who saves, He's transparently trustworthy, He's the One that reveals the way unto us without looking at the personality of anymore. The Pharisees were asking Him serious of questions, they asked that, it's lawful to give tribute to Ceasar or not? And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him. All the things you're supposed to do in the community, render it to the Ceasar, and the social things, and your personal things that will contribute to that community, render unto Caesar the things that belongs to Caesar, and He said, they should render to God what belongs to God. Here JESUS Christ is saying, our heart belong to God, God created us, you came to this earth to fulfil the will of God, you're not rendering your heart to Caesar, you're not rendering your will to Cesar, but you render it to God, render your willingness to obey God, and to do that every moment, you will not please yourself, you will not please society, you will not please anyone and you will not please Satan, you're here on earth to please your Heavenly Father, render unto Him the glory due unto His Name, render unto God your love, your mind, your heart, your soul, your body, your devotion, your worship, your service unreservedly. Render unto God all the things that are of God. That's the way, and that's what He has ordained us to do. If we are going to enter into the Holiest place, we must be Born again and be Holy, because the Place we are going is the Holy Heaven, and there's a Holy God there, and the Holy Son Jesus Christ is there, the Holy Ghost is Holy, and the Angels and the Saints there are Holy, and for you to get there, we must enter through the Holiest heart. Our conscience must not be kind of uncertain, you are going to abandon your evil way and the trade to do evil, you will hold on, and you will hold through IN Jesus Name. After you've come to know the Lord, you know Him final, that is, you know Him forever and you cannot go back to repeat those things, take heed, you came in by your decision, and you can go out by your own folly decision. But you must make up your mind to stay forever in Christ has you have comes in. And the Journey you have started, you will stop halfway IN Jesus Name. We will see together at the final point of victory, and when you enter into that gate, and we see each other, we will rejoice together because we escape the final judgment.
POINT THREE: THE INCORRUPTIBLE GOSPEL WAY FOR A FULL ESCAPE.
ROMANS 1:15-17; 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4; 1 THESSALONIANS 1:5-10; 1 PETER 4:17-18; HEBREWS 4:1-3,11,14-16.
This is the way that the gospel has outlined for us, and Jesus said, He's the way, the Truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except by Him. Jesus Christ is the incorruptible Gospel way for a full escape, and if you're going to escape, you must come to Christ the Only way, you will escape judgment finally, you will escape judgment now and you will escape the consequences of sin today, and you escape the condemnation and the damnation of sin in the future, it's total, complete, entire and full escape.
If you you're going to escape through that Incorruptible gospel way,
✔️ you must escape from the couches of Satan
✔️ you must escape from the control of evil spirit.
✔️ you must escape from the corruption of sin.
✔️ you must escape from all the crime of society.
✔️and you will escape from all the condemnation that is going to come on sinners in the final day.
It's the gospel way that will make people escape fully the judgement that is coming here on earth and all eternity. If you're going to escape fully, as the preaching comes to you, you receive it and you stand in it, and not that you receive it and then walk way. You hear it, you receive it, and you stand in it. The gospel is not that you're turning over a new life by yourself, it's not that you're making a new revolution, the gospel is not that you makes your life better, and it's not that you will save yourself, but it's because of what Jesus Christ has done, and you plug yourself into that which Christ has done, He died for our sins according to the scriptures, it you're the only one that believes that on earth, you will get to heaven. Gospel of Jesus Christ is coming with Power and in the Holy Ghost and in much assurance. You hear the Gospel, and you believe it, and you receive it and you drop your old way and your opinion you had before, and now you become follower of Christ. The people that will escape that final eternal judgement, they heard about the True and Living God, they forsook the false gods of the heathens, and they forsook the dead of the pagan and now they turn to the true One, and to the Living and true God to wait for His Son from Heaven. And because you believe, He will deliver you from the wrath to come. There's evaluation and examination on the final day of judgement, there are some pastors that teaches their congregation erroneous doctrine, that every sin has been judged on Christ, and they are erroneous in their way, they don't believe in the totality of the Gospel, such people will not escape the final judgment. We must believe the Gospel that demands obedience, the prescription of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Gospel and the commitments of God has been given to us, we must obey the word of God and the commandments of God in our lives. This gospel will continue working in our lives effectively as we read the totality of the word of God IN your Name. We see the demands of God on compromising, He says we should have reverential fear, He's our God we should Honour, He has sent His saving Gospel, receive it and allow it to penetrate into your life, allow it to come to you, chew it, think over it, digest it, assimilate it, and you allow it to mix to faith in your heart, and if it doesn't do that, then you can not escape the final judgment. We should endeavour, we should give into the Gospel to enter into that rest. Hold fast the doctrine, hold fast the word of God, today is not the day of Judgement, the mercy of God is available for us today, the Love of God is still calling you and the warnings of God are coming to us so that we can come to have all the grace we need to be everything we ought to be. Whatever you need tonight, of the grace of God, of the mercy of God, of the forgiveness, of love, of goodness of God, it will flow into your way and into your heart. He will strengthen you, He will make you strong and the Ability to hold fast unto the very end, He will give unto you all He has promised to give you, we also need to understand that, all who believed in the past, and all who have gone to heaven now, they didn't get there by their own strength, they didn't get there by their trying and trying, and struggling, but they got there by the Grace of God, and God is no a respecter of person, His Grace is sufficient for you not to turn back, He has called us and we responded, we will move on until the very end, and we need to assure people that the Grace of God is available for every sinner, for every saints, for every stewards, for every servants of God. Once you repent and you turn to Christ, He will get you out of that difficulties and He will make you stronger and stronger.
