MONDAY BIBLE STUDY. (SYSTEMATIC AND EXPOSITORY TEACHING OF THE WORD OF GOD,

DATE: 06/07/2020

MESSAGE ANCHORED BY THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.

TOPIC: THE UNJUST TRIAL OF THE JUST.

MARK 14:53-65; ACTS 2:23; 7:52; MATTHEW 27:19,24; ACTS 3:14; 22:14; 1 PETER 3:18.

We are getting near the crucifixion in the record of the story of the Lord Jesus Christ, already now you know as we are studying, if you have been with us, we have looked at the arrest of Christ, we have looked at the betrayal of Christ, and you understand as they arrested Him, and as they took Him to the Highpriest, and He was to be tried. And we want to look at the process of trial today, before they handed Him over to the officers that will crucify Him, and you'll see that, they were unjust as they tried Him, actually they have made up their minds that this is the Judgement they will pass on Him, they have not even tried Him, nobody had witness against Him, and they have not laid on Him any charge and yet they have conspired together against Him, and in their conspiracy they said He was already guilty of death. So all these trials was just a superficial thing, and they hurried everything up to carried out their predetermined evil and their injustice perpetration.
And actually as you look at the law that God gave to the children of Israel:

✔️ they should have real witnesses and then they should have defenders, that is, if you accuse somebody that he has done something wrong, the people that witness against him will get the defenders that will witness on his side, that was the law given to the Children of Israel. But in the case of our Lord Jesus Christ, they should have found a defender that will stand at the side of Christ as a witness, but they never sought any witness and they never looked for anyone that will witness on the side of the Lord JESUS Christ. Actually, they were unjust, they were not following the word that they held onto, and they unjustly ‎dealt with the people they persecuted and they unjustly dealt with Christ.

We were told that, Jesus Christ is the Just and the Righteous One, and as you look at the word of God, is very clear that Jesus Christ did no sin, He did no evil, He was a perfect one and the people that were trying Him were imperfect.

✔️ is like the imperfect Judging the perfect.
✔️ is like the sinful Judging the Righteous and the Holy.
✔️ the unjust judging the one that is perfectly Just without any evil laid at His feet.
Even, the wife of the Pilate who was sitting on the Judgment seat and wanted to Judge the Lord Jesus Christ, his wife said Jesus Christ is the Just Man, Pilate even died He was a Just Person. We need to understand that, we are unjust, we are sinners before we came to Christ and before Christ justified us, He was put to death but He rose again for our Justification, He's the Just that Justifies the Unjust.

POINT ONE: THE CONTRADICTIONS OF FALSE WITNESSES AGAINST CHRIST.

MARK 14:53-60.

These people that conspired to kill Jesus even contradicted themselves, and if the Judges were actually searching for the truth, if they wanted to Judge righteously, they would have known that they shouldn't have any means to crucified Jesus or to condemned Him. And they took Him and they led Him to the Highpriest, and there were also members of the Sanhedrin, and those members sought false witness that will make the Highpriests to say what they wanted them to say, they wanted to put Jesus Christ to death, the have decided that in their conspiracy, they were just looking for witnesses that will say what they wanted them to say so that they can have an excuse and a reason in their own minds for the public illegitimate, they wanted found reason why they have condemned Him to tell the public, they said they were following the Lord, they said they were following the word of God, but they were not.

You see those Pharisees, they were meticulous about following law, they said they were following the written law, they said they were ‎following the interpretation of the law, and they said they were applying the law to everything they do, they even go beyond the law, they always washes their hands and their feet time to time, but they were not rarely flowing the Biblical Principle and Law given to them.

I. The Law of false witnesses against the Innocent.

Mark 14:53-55; Exodus 20:12-17; 23:1-2; Deuteronomy 19:16-19; Romans 13:9-11.

Exodus chapter 20 tells us about 10 commandments, but now we are reading the one that applied to our neighbour, it says, thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. But these Pharisees people were custodians of the law, they were the people protecting the law, they were the people keeping the law, and here is the Lord God gave to them, that if anybody bore false witnesses against anyone, and he's expected that, the person he's witnessing against should be cage with 39 strokes, and then if they eventually found out he was a false witness, they will pick him up and beat him with 39 strokes, if the false witnesses wanted the person to died and they has accused that other person further, if they discovered that that fellow was a false witness, what should have been done to the person he was bearing false witness to, that is what they will do against him.
But in the case of Jesus Christ, they didn't follow the rules and law given to them, and when they wanted to Judge JESUS Christ unjustly, they did it in the night, and in their law, they should have did it during the day, but when they arrested JESUS Christ, they came with lanterns because it was in the night and it was in that same night they tried Him, and they did not made diligent inquisition, investigation and interrogation, if any witness came and he bore the witness that is not true and they diligently made inquisition, investigation and interrogation and they found that, such accusation against that fellow is false, what they wanted to have done to his brother will be done unto him, if they wanted him to be crucified and they found out that false witnesses, then they will crucify those people.

II. The Lawlessness of false witness and Injustice of the people.

Mark 14:56-60; Psalms 38:11-16; Proverbs 6:16-19. 1 Timothy 1:9-10.

There was Lawlessness among the Pharisees, they acted as if there was no law, they forgot their law because they have made up their minds to do what they want to do, if they were to follow the word of God in Deuteronomy and if they made diligent inquisition and they interviewed the people that bear false witness against Christ very well, they wouldn't have gone on in the way they went on. If anybody came to the synagogue of these chief priests, or if anybody came to their sanctuary and they see a woman wearing trousers, they will shout, they will scream because it's an abomination, and yet these same people were committed greater abomination.

The word of God says, these six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
✔️ A proud look,
✔️ a lying tongue,
✔️ hands that shed innocent blood,
✔️An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations,
✔️ feet that be swift in running to mischief,
✔️A false witness that speaketh lies,
✔️and he that soweth discord among brethren. But these Pharisees were not following the Law of God, they lied against Christ, they misinterpreted the word of God and they misconstrued the word of JESUS Christ, they changed the word of JESUS Christ and they used those words to bear false witness against Him, and these are the things that God hate, and it's an abomination in the sight of God, they were not to use the law to judge and to condemned the righteous Man, and they were not to bend the law and condemn the righteous man, but they became lawless instead of following the way of God, and instead of using law aright, they misused the law, they misinterpreted the law and they misapplied the law. The wickedness of their hearts actually conspired against the Lord Jesus Christ and they became lawless. As they allowed all those false witnesses and they took the words of those witnesses, they will not go Scott free like that.

III. The Lot of false witnesses for their iniquity.

Proverbs 19:5,9; 25:18; Jeremiah 6:8,13; Revelation 21:23; Acts 6:12-13; 7:51-53.

Judgement will come upon those who bring up false witness and those who bear false witnesses to condemn the righteous, or the child of God to condemns the Just one. They shall not be unpunished because of what they have done. Under the Old covenant, it had been declared that the false witnesses will not be unpunished, and under the New covenant, it has been written that the false witnesses shall not be unpunished, before the crucifixion and after the crucifixion, the word of God still repeats itself that the false witnesses shall not be unpunished. A person that has devil behind him and he wanted another person to be killed, he wanted another person to suffer, and he wanted another person to be granded almost using a mortal, and he wanted that fellow to be suffered unjustly, he wanted him to be imprisoned unjustly and because of that false witnesses, false witnesses shall not be unpunished, the judgement of God will come upon such people. Anyone that destroys, anyone that bear false witnesses against another person to destroy that person, false witnesses is an abomination, bringing trouble on another person is an abomination, a false witness is a liar, and liar shall not enter into the Kingdom of God, a false witness is a dangerous liar, he's an injurious liar, he's a murderous liar, the Lord is telling us very clearly that we should not bear false witness against anyone like those Pharisees bore false witness against Christ, even though there was contradictions in their false witnesses, they still condemned the Lord Jesus Christ and such people shall not be unpunished.

POINT TWO: THE CONFIRMATION AND FAITHFUL WITNESS OF HIS COMING.

MARK 14:41-62.

It's very interesting and very instructive that in the midst of the trial of the Lord Jesus Christ, He said He's coming back again.

All those people came in the night with touches and with lanterns and with staves and with swords and with many things, they violently took away Jesus Christ and then they brought Him to the Highpriest, and Jesus Christ knew they were Judging unrighteously, He knew that they have made up their minds they were going to condemn JESUS Christ to death, but He was so cool and calm and courageous in telling them that He's coming back again, and that the betrayal will not be the end, that the crucifixion will not be the end, and that the death will not be the end and that the humiliation, the shame and the reproach and the spiting on Him and everything they were doing against Him will not be the end, He still confirmed faithfully the fact that He will come again, and you must rarely believe that JESUS Christ is coming back again.

✔️If anybody be in Christ, he is the new creature, old things are passed away and everything becomes New.
✔️ if anybody be in Christ, he must know that Christ has left an example for us that we should follow His steps.
✔️ if anybody be in Christ, he should know that he's crucified with Christ and he knows that he's living by the conviction of the Lord Jesus Christ and he's living by the courage of the Lord Jesus Christ .

We need to understand, as we see Jesus Christ in His trial, as we see Jesus Christ before the injustice, as we see Jesus Christ before the condemning word and we see His attitude and we see His courage and we see His confidence, and His firmness confirming what He has said when things were easy, when there was no persecution, when there was no false witnesses, He affirmed, He confirmed the same thing confidently and courageously, that is telling us that whatever doctrine we believed in easy time, we still believe that same doctrine in difficult time, whatever statement we made and whatever stand we took when we still make that same statement, if we are faithful people, if we are loyal people, if we are dependable people, if we are truly followers of Christ, we still stand how we stood when there was no problem, the injury that people ‎caused, the problem that comes and the false witnesses against us should not make us to change the doctrine of the word of God and the conviction we had before. We see here, before the Pharisees, Jesus Christ held His peace and answer nothing, He knew what they were going to do, He was in charge, and He will be in charge of your life, He will be in charge of your temper and He will be in charge of your progress.

I. The Faithful witness of His coming in Glory.

Mark 14:61-62; Matthew 26:46; Luke 21:27; Revelation 1:5,7.

At that time of injurious murderous arrest and trial, He still said He is the Son of God and He told them that He's coming back again, He was faithful, He's the faithful witness before those people, and after those injurious people, the word of God still confirmed that Jesus Christ is the faithful witness.

II. The Further witnesses of His coming with Glory.

1 Peter 1:10-11; Psalms 22:16,28. Isaiah 9:6-7; Daniel 7:13-14; Jude 1:14-15.

Those prophets in the Old Testament are former witnesses, they witnessed concerning the coming of the Son of God with Glory, these are the prophets under the Old covenant and under the New covenant, they preached, they prophesied and they proclaimed about the coming of Christ, this signify when He testified before hand of the suffering of Jesus Christ and the Glory that should follow. Those are the former witnesses. Old Testament witnesses to the fact that Jesus Christ will be crucified and His hands will be pierced, and His feet will be pierced, but you know, that that will not be the end, He will rise again after piercing His feet and His hands, then He will rises again and He will set up the Kingdom that cannot be destroyed. The crucifixion will not be the end, after that, He will come with Glory, Daniel saw a vision about JESUS Christ and he bear witness to that, the former witnesses of His coming with His Glory bear witness to that, Shadrach, Mesach and Abednego when they were in the furnace of fire, the fourth One is like unto the Son of God, that's the ‎Lord Jesus Christ, in His pre-incarnation, He's coming again, for former witnesses testified of that, He's coming again with Glory, actually far back at the time of Enoch in Genesis, but now the prophecy is recorded for us in Jude chapter One, Christ the faithful witness of His coming in Glory, and then those prophets in the Old Testament testified of that, and then He died and resurrected, after the Resurrection the Holy Ghost came upon the disciples and they were witnesses of Christ.

III. The fearless witness of His Coming from Glory.

Acts 3:20-21; Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Thessalonians 1:10,4:16-17; 2 Thessalonians 5:7-8; Titus 2:13-14; Hebrews 9:28; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Hebrews 2:9-10.

Those Apostles received the power and the courage and the boldness, they received the energizing power of the Holy Ghost upon their lives, and they became fearless witnesses, all those Apostles and all those disciples and preachers in the New Testament, in the Acts of Apostles in the epistle, they testified of Christ and they borne fearless witness of His coming from Glory. Here are the fearless witnesses telling us about the coming of Christ, He will come from Glory, He will come with Glory and He will come in Glory.

You see what happened to Christ, you have seen even though He was betrayed and even though He was arrested and crucified and even though He was unjustly dealt with, even though false witnesses came against Him and they manufactured big lies against Him, He's still coming in Glory, He will be revealed from heaven with mighty Angels. We are not looking back, but we are looking up because Christ is going to come in Glory, with Glory, through Glory and He's going to come with mighty power and Authority. We are looking at the great appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ coming in Glory, coming with Glory, coming from Glory, and He brought us into This Glory and you will not be hiding behind the cotton or behind closed doors, you will come to the side of Glory, that's what we are beholding now, we are not beholding ‎those high priests, and we are not beholding how powerful and how mightier they are, let that Spirit of God come upon you and be immersed in the Holy Ghost and be energized in power by the Holy Ghost, and that Spirit of the Lord will change you to that same image from glory to glory.

Christ has tasted death, HE has tasted all the dignity, all the sufferings for us, He brought all those Apostles, all those disciples and us into Glory, He's taking us from the degradation, from all the evil of the past, and He's taking us from all the regrets, sorrow and all the rejection into Glory.

POINT THREE: HIS CONDEMNATION WITHOUT FURTHER WITNESSES FOR CONVICTION.

MARK 14:63-65.

They convinced Him, they said He's guilty and they condemned Him without even looking for further witnesses, even though they have not found truthful witnesses and faithful witnesses and the witnesses that actually has tested with the truth, even without further witnesses they convinced and condemned Him. In all what He went through, He submitted to shame for our sake, so that all those things that He went through we will not go through anymore, He did that because of our Salvation.

The Highpriest who ought to study the Bible, who ought to know the Old Testament very well, he said the quotation and the application and the reputation of what Daniel has said is false, and he counted the truth as blasphemy, and he counted the prophecy, and he counted the proclamation of Jesus as blasphemy and so if the highpriest himself didn't know the truth and he counted the truth as blasphemy, what do you expect of the people? They have decided to kill JESUS before the arrest and before the betrayal.

I. The Priest's Conspiracy against the Just.

Matthew 26:3-4; John 11:56-57; Acts 3:14-15; Mark 14:46-64; John 5:22,27-29; 2 Corinthian 5:10.

All these people have decided to kill Jesus, they all said He's guilty of death and this same JESUS they accused to be killed, He's the same Person who is going to be the Final Judge on the final day, the judgement of Judas Iscariot is in the hand of Jesus, the judgement of all these high priests and chief priests, and the Pharisees, and the council, their judgment is in the hand of Jesus Christ and the judgement of all the prosecutors of believers, they are in the hands of JESUS Christ.

II. The People's condemnation of their Judgement.

Acts 2:36-37; 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11.

Every condemned betrayers, every unrepentant souls, every one of persecutors will receive judgment, He will judge against all those false witnesses on the final day.

III. The Profane conduct against the Justifier.

Mark 14:65; Romans 3:23,26; Acts 13:38-39; 4:5; Titus 3:5-7.

You see the profanity and you see the insult, and you see the abuse, and you see the degradation, and you see the shame and you see the reproach that came on JESUS Christ, He allowed all these assaults, insults, reproach and humiliation, Al that profane conduct against Him, He bear these so that He will become our Justifier, and so that He will forgive us, and so that He will cleanse us, and so that He will save us, He Borne all that on our behalf He's our sin's Bearer, He's Our Saviour, all those false witnesses, they were sinners and we are all sinned in the past before we knew the Lord.

As you read, as you think, and as you picture all those things we have read, that came on Him, is not enough to pity Christ for what He passed through, is not enough to cry for Him, is not enough to feel the pain  He did it to justify us, He did it to take our place, He did it so that we will not bear the same guilt and the same degradation and the same judgement, now you must believe on Him because He's the Justifier, He took your guilt away, He took your punishment and your pain, so that He will forgive your sins.

Without bearing the reproach, without bearing the same and all they did against Him, without bearing the crucifixion, He will not have be able to justify us, you cannot perfectly keep the law like an Angel without JESUS Christ bearing your sin, you cannot keep the law ‎like Adam before he fell, when he was totally innocent without JESUS Christ die on the Cross of Calvary for you. You must have the help and the grace of God, you must have the redemption you must have the forgiveness of the Lord Jesus Christ, and He must brought the power and the release unto you, He's our Justifier, we cannot be justified by the law of Moses, only the Blood of Jesus can take away your sin, fasting cannot take away from sin, bathing in the river Jordan cannot take away from sin, it's not what you have done, it's not the work of your self righteousness, but it's what Christ has done, everyone need the mercy of God so that we can be forgiven and saved and redeem from our sins. That's the only way the strength to be obedient to the Lord can come, salvation and redemption comes by the washing of regeneration, every work of righteousness you do will not be wide enough to cover your shame, and to cover your nakedness, and it cannot cover your guilt, only the Blood of Jesus Christ He shed can make you whole, the blood of Jesus Christ is wide enough and long enough and broad enough to cover you abundantly, the grace of God is so extensive and so deep and high and is so broad that it covers everyone and He can be your Justofier today, and He will give you Peace in your heart..

You can come today, just come and that peace of God, forgiveness and justification will come and He will give you assurance of heaven. And the Spirit of God will bear witnesses with your heart that you're now a child of God. No morw guilt, no more condemnation, no more punishment, He borne it all for you, make it a day with the Lord, He justify those who believe. ‎
