TOPIC: LEBBAEUS: A DISCIPLE OF JESUS

TEXT: MATTHEW 10:1-4

Key Verse: "Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus,  whose surname was Thaddaeus" (Matthew 10:3).

Lebbaeus is not a popular name. In fact, many people may not even know that he was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. The names: Lebbaeus, Thaddaeus, Jude or Judas refer to the same person.

The gospel of Matthew identified him as Lebbaeus whose surname was Thaddaeus. Studies also say that he was a fisherman and was from the tribe of Judah. Lebbaeus was inquisitive, he asked Christ many questions in order to have a good understanding of His teachings.

Lebbaeus was one of those who waited in the Upper Room to receive the Holy Ghost power. He served Christ faithfully despite hardship and persecution. He was said to have founded a church in a place called Edessa. He was also killed because of his faith in Christ.

Serve the Lord faithfully and diligently wherever you are. Jesus knows you and sees your labour of love. You will surely be rewarded as you continue till the end.

Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to serve You diligently anywhere You put me.
