TOPIC: MY MOUTH SHALL NOT TRANSGRESS
TEXT: PSALM 17:1-3
Key Verse: "Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress" (Psalm 17:3).
"Be careful little mouth what you say;
Be careful little mouth what you say; The Father up above, Is looking down in love; So, be careful little mouth what you say."
The above is a song on being careful about what you say. People often commit sin by what they say. This weakness exists in almost everyone. When you say things that are offensive, it makes the Lord sad. It is only a determined godly child that can keep his mouth from sinning (transgressing).
There are matters we cannot handle alone. Exercising a godly control of your mouth is one of them. Our text says it starts with your willingness to allow God to take control of what you think, say and do.
God starts the work of transforming the mouth from the heart. When the heart is clean, the mouth speaks godly words.
You must determine to watch and pray, sing His praises, encourage and comfort others, speak the truth, and lead others to the Lord. Also, learn to keep quiet when there are no wholesome words to say.
Prayer: Help me, Lord, to speak words that will bless others, and bring glory to Your name.
