TOPIC: THE AXE HEAD FLOATS

TEXT: 2 KINGS 6:1-7

Key Verse: "And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim" (2 Kings 6:6).

An axe is a tool used for cutting down trees. The head is made of iron while the handle is usually made of wood. If an iron falls into the river, it will sink to the bottom because it is heavy.

In our text, the sons of the prophets, that is, prophets in training, wanted to build a bigger house for themselves. They told Elisha and he said they should go ahead. They went into the bush to cut trees.

As they were cutting down the trees, the axe head held by one of them fell into the river and sank. He immediately cried to Elisha for help. Elisha asked him to show him the exact spot where it fell. He showed him and Elisha cut a stick and dropped it there. Suddenly, the axe head swam to the surface of the water!

The son of the prophet took it and was happy. God used Elisha to perform great miracles. God can use you also. Remember that there is nothing impossible with God. Whatever you have lost as a child of God will be restored to you.

You may have lost your salvation or sanctification experience through your carelessness, call upon God and you will be restored. If your daddy or mummy has lost his/her job and there is hardship in the family, pray that God will restore their jobs.

If you are still doing bad things, you are sinking in the river of sin and on your way to hell fire, come to Jesus and let Him bring you out today. With faith in God your impossibility will become possible.

Prayer: Dear Father, restore to me all that I have lost.
