 DAILY MANNA

MONDAY JANUARY 10, 2022

TOPIC: CRY FOR JUSTICE

TEXT: PSALM 10:12-18

KEY VERSE: "Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none" (PSALM 10:15).

In July 2018, a horrifying video began to circulate on social media. It showed two women and two young children being led away at gunpoint by a group of soldiers, one of them having a baby strapped to her back. The blindfolded victims were forced to the ground and shot 22 times. The government initially dismissed the video as fake news. But the BBC African Eye, through forensic analysis of the footage, proved exactly where this happened, when it happened, and who were responsible for the killings. This eventually forced the government to arrest the culprits and commence a court trial.

Crying to God becomes the only option when all appeal to man fails. In our text, the psalmist did exactly that. He appealed to God to intervene by seeking out evil people with a view to exposing and punishing their wicked deeds. He pointed out the poor and the fatherless as those mostly affected by oppressors possibly because they have no one to protect them.

Evil is present everywhere. It is in the heart of every unregenerate man. Wickedness, oppression and injustice can be found in the history of all nations. It shows the extent to which people can go in brutality, especially when there is no authority to hold them accountable or when the authorities themselves are culpable in the matter.

This leaves us with no option but to cry unto God who will by no means justify the wicked nor condemn the innocent. The Lord has an arrangement in place to bring evildoers to account and mete out eternal punishment on them.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God will judge those who oppress the poor.

BRINGING THE SICK TO THE SAVIOUR

TEXT: JOHN 4:46-49

MEMORY VERSE: "When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death" (JOHN 4:47).

There are many around us who are helpless and living with different sicknesses. During Jesus' earthly ministry, many of such folks usually gathered wherever He preached or passed through for them to receive His touch of healing. In line with their expectations, He always demonstrated His compassion, care and power by healing all of them.

Apart from physical infirmities, there are many who are spiritually sick because of their sins. Such people need spiritual healing from the Saviour.

Jesus died for our sins, and by so doing, took our sins and infirmities away; and bore our diseases. He is the same yesterday, today and forever, He will likewise heal all the physically and spiritually sick today. Do you desire His touch of healing for yourself, a family member or your friends? A prayer of faith, if you are born again, will heal you.

You can also bring your friends and neighbours to the Saviour, our Healer, through your prayers and invitation to church programmes. Prayers offered in faith will make the sick well. Remember, God honours only the prayer of the righteous.

QUOTE: Receive His touch of healing.

CHALLENGE: Confess your sins that your prayers may be answered.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, heal me and I shall be healed.

FORGIVE YOUR OFFENDERS

TEXT: COLOSSIANS 3:10-16

Key Verse: "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye" (Colossians 3:13).

Do you remember the day you gave your life to Christ? You confessed all your sins and asked God to forgive you and He did! He forgave all your sins without thinking twice. He wants you to do the same with those people who have hurt you or made you sad or angry. As a child of God, God wants you to be exactly like Him. Every friend of Jesus must be quick and ready to forgive people their offences, even when they do not say sorry. It may be hard to do this, but God has given you the power to do it.

The word of God teaches that we should forgive others just the way Christ forgave us. Do not be angry at them or hold them in your heart in hatred. Forgive them with a smile on your face. Why? Because you are a child of God! Do not keep diary or record of the people that offend you. You can ask Jesus to sanctify your heart so that you can forgive people with ease. Forgiveness is Christlike.

Prayer: Lord, help me to forgive all the people that have made me sad or angry.
