LITTLE THINGS IN GOD'S HANDS
TEXT: MATTHEW 15:32-39
KEY VERSE: "And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes" (MATTHEW 15:34).
Quite often, we focus on our personal inadequacies, the talents and abilities we lack. We neglect our little endowments and gifts, and conclude that nothing worthwhile can come from us. As a result, we give up easily or become discouraged. We forget that God does not work by the enormity of our spiritual or physical possessions, but by His own sovereign power.
Jesus had been in a retreat with His followers. After three days of going without food, He became concerned about the wellbeing of the people. He would not send them home on empty stomach, "lest they faint in the way". He turned to His disciples to inquire about their stock of food. They promptly informed Him that it was not much, just seven loaves and few little fishes. How could this possibly feed thousands of people? But Jesus was not looking for a large store of food; He had the power to multiply few loaves into a large provision for multitudes.
Quite amazingly, everyone in the crowd ate to their fill, leaving seven surplus baskets of the remnants of the food. Beside women and children, there were four thousand men in the gathering.
God does not need our help to do anything for us. He only demands that we believe in His ability to do anything we may require to live fruitfully. Our faith is the key that unlocks His supernatural works. It enables us to believe that God can do anything. Whatever the situation, He "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think."
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Little things become great in the Almighty's hands.

FLEE IDOLATRY
TEXT:1 CORINTHIANS 10:6-14
MEMORY VERSE: "Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry" (1 CORINTHIANS 10:14).
Idolatry is the practice of worshipping an object, image, animal, personality or deity. Idolatry implies denial or rejection of the Lordship, Supremacy and Sovereignty of the Almighty God. Apostle Paul in our text warns the Corinthian Christians to flee (run from) idolatry.
Idolatry does not always mean to erect or bow down to an image, but also means worshipping or placing value on anything or anyone above God. Idolatry could be in the form of hero worshipping (in the world of music, sports, entertainment, politics or technology); the love of money or fashion; placing one's parents, wealthy persons or a spiritual figure above God.
God will never share His glory with anyone nor give His praise to graven images because He is a jealous God (Isaiah 42:8). God must be first in your life and endeavours. This is only possible when you are saved by grace through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. There should be supreme love for God and His glory in your heart. Hence, you need to pray for the sanctification experience.
QUOTE: God will never share His glory with anyone.
CHALLENGE: Give God His supreme place in your life.
PRAYER: Lord, dethrone anyone or anything taking Your place in my life.

BE STRONG
BIBLE TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 16:13,14
KEY VERSE: "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong" (1 CORINTHIANS 16:13).
More than any other animal, lions symbolize courage, strength and great energy. They don't back down from challenges, they aggressively hunt for prey. They don't also hide in the shadows, they make their presence known and pick themselves back up every time they fall. These attributes teach us that we should be strong and do away with fear and any trace of cowardice.
You cannot continue to be fearful, it is time to put on strength. What are your goals for the year? What are your desires and aspirations? "quit ye like men!" Go forth and achieve great things for God and humanity. Be strong to discover God's purpose for your life. Be strong to accomplish what really makes God happy. Be strong to make positive changes in the path of your academic and personal life. Be strong to stand alone with God whatever comes your way. Be strong to make your dream come true.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, take away every form of weakness from me and make me strong so as to achieve great things for you.
