DIVINE WEAPON
TEXT: EXODUS 4:18-26
KEY VERSE: "And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand" (EXODUS 4:20).
John F. Kennedy, a former president of the United States, was quoted to have said, "The weapons of war must be abolished before they abolish us". He was assassinated by a gunman with a rifle fitted with a telescope.
The use of physical weapons by the unregenerate results in unjustified destruction but divine weapons are designed to accomplish God's holy purposes.
From our text, Moses set out on his mission as God's prophet to liberate the Jews from the Egyptian bondage. He was not dressed like a musketeer. Neither did he set up a camp to train an army of liberators; nor was there any need for mercenaries. He went as a family man with his wife and two sons. He only took a rod, rode on an ass, on a journey of faith to confirm the Scripture that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
God had given Moses all the assurances. With all questions answered and all excuses and doubts removed, Moses was now ready to ride on in the strength of the Lord. At eighty, he had overcome the immaturity and infirmities of his youth. He now knew better. Never would he run ahead of God again. Though he was convinced all along that he was the chosen one to liberate Israel, he had seen the fire of his youthful exuberance ebb out when he made the first attempt to save Israel forty years earlier.
We need not hurry but wait for God, follow His method, use only the weapons He prescribes and the way He directs us. It is then that victory is certain.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God's weapons always guarantee victory.

CARRY YOUR CROSS
TEXT: MARK 8:34-38
MEMORY VERSE: "And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" (MARK 8:34).
Cross carrying is a major aspect of the Christian life that we can never do without if we wish to make heaven. In fact, take away the cross from Christianity and what you have left is mere religion and a social gathering of people without any spiritual aspiration. Cross bearing separates genuine Christians from hypocrites. To carry your cross means to bear the reproaches that come with your faith in Christ for upholding the gospel truth. Salvation attracts God's goodness, favour, joy and abundant blessings, but also attracts persecutions from the world because it hates righteousness.
A Christian youth who desires to make it to heaven at last must determine to face life's challenges without compromising his or her faith. These challenges include suffering for Christ through persecution, hardship, ridicule from friends, denial of rights, etc. The joyful part of it is that there are unfailing precious promises of victory for the persecuted here, and a crown of righteousness in eternity for standing for Christ in all situations. Stand for Christ, no matter the challenging situation.
QUOTE: Stand for Christ.
CHALLENGE: Ask for grace to carry the cross.
PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to carry my cross.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT JESUS
TEXT: MARK 16:15-18
Key Verse: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).
When Jesus was leaving the earth to go back to heaven, He gave His disciples a very important assignment. He told them to tell people about Him and to proclaim His love to everyone that live around them or that they would have encounter with. This command is not only for the disciples of Jesus but for all friends of Jesus in every generation. Jesus wants you to tell your friends about Him.
Many people look happy on the outside but their hearts desire the kind of love that Jesus came to offer freely. They may not know how to connect with the love of Christ, but it is our job as God's children to do just that. When next you are around people, do not keep quiet or talk about irrelevant things; tell them about Jesus who came to die for their sins on the cross at Calvary. Also, endeavour to show them how to become friends of Jesus. Rewards await every friend of Jesus that obeys this command while punishment awaits the disobedient.
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage and boldness to preach the gospel to my friends today.
