TEXT: Genesis 6:1-22; 7:1-24; 8:1-22; 9:1-29; 10:1-32; 11:1-32.
The fall of man in Eden through disobedience resulted in total depravity and corruption which made the entire human race liable to God’s wrath and judgment, despite the punishment brought upon individual for their wrong doing, man continued his descent into wickedness and corruption.
The universal wickedness of man came to a point where God decided to destroy the earth. However, he found Noah, the only righteous person in his generation, with whom He entered into a covenant.

*Corruption (Genesis 6:11); *Complete wickedness (6:5); *Confusion and Violence (Genesis 6:11); *Creator’s hatred for sin (Genesis 6:13).

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imaginations of the thought of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). As human began to reproduce and increase in the earth the sinful nature which Adam transmitted to all his descendants began to manifest through various degree of wickedness till the Lord looked down and saw nothing but sheer corruption, God was disappointed and decided to destroy the wicked from the earth; But amidst destruction, Noah found grace in the sight of God because he was a righteous man. “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing and all the cattle that was with him in the ark and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the water asswaged” (Genesis 8:1). God delivered Noah from perishing with the wicked. He knows how to deliver the righteous while the wicked are judged for their sins. Believers will not partake in the coming judgment upon the world of sinners. They will be taken away in the rapture before the wrath of God is poured on the earths. Noah and his family were preserved, so long as they remained in the Lord. Our continued security as Christians is for as long as we abide in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth“ Psalm 33:10. They chose to unite against the will of God, instead of replenishing the whole earth as God had commanded. They decide to build a city and a tower whose top may reach into heaven and make them a name. The project they embarked upon was a selfish project contrary to the purpose of God. But he confounded their language and they were unable to carry out their enterprise. Although men’s rebellion at Babel was condemnable, God commended the unity among the people.
