THE PORTION OF THE LEVITES
KEY VERSE: “The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.” – (Deuteronomy 18:1)
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 18:1-8
God has clearly defined plans for all His children and servants. His desire is that they render acceptable service without blemish to Him. God demands outright consecration to His service and total separation from the world. For those separated to render such services in our assemblies, He requires believers to minister to their financial and material needs.
The call for separation constitutes the core of today’s text. Of the twelve tribes of Israel, God specifically chose the Levites to minister in the name of the Lord in the tabernacle. As revealed in our text, He decided not to give them any inheritance among the Israelites; but He assured them that the Lord of hosts “is their inheritance...” He, therefore, directed other tribes to provide for them whenever they offered sacrifice. He also directed that the firstfruit of their corn, wine and oil, and the first of the fleece of the sheep should be for the Levites. God made this arrangement for the Levites so that they would not lack anything and consecrate themselves unreservedly to His sacred services.
Like the Levites, God has called workers in His vineyard to minister His words to their congregations. They labour daily to ensure His plans for His people are fulfilled. As they minister the Word, we should always remember to provide for their needs because they are separated unto God.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
How we care for God's servants reveals the extent of our love for Him.

SPOTTING THE DIFFERENCE
TEXT : 1 JOHN 4:4-6
Key Verse: “We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error” (1 John 4:6).
Martin Luther declared, “From the beginning of my Reformation I have asked God to send me neither dreams, nor visions, nor angels, but to give me the right understanding of His Word, the Holy Scriptures; for as long as I have God’s Word, I know that I am walking in His way and that I shall not fall into any error or delusion.” Some believers embrace the truth and others thrive on falsehood. Anyone who does not accept the doctrines taught by the Lord Jesus Christ does not belong to Him.
The saying in John 8:47: “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God,” applies to all so-called Christians, no matter their titles, piety, or zeal. Believers are commanded not to meddle with peddlers of errors but to escape from them. True Christianity shows in our readiness to receive and obey the totality of God’s Word. God’s Word is the only source of joy and means of salvation. Proper knowledge of the truth frees us from every error.
QUOTE: The truth frees us
CHALLENGE:Blood-washed saints should not meddle with pretenders.
PRAYER: Help me dear Lord to abide in the truth.

GOOD OUT OF BAD
TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 1:12-18
Key Verse: “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;” Philippians 1:12
In January 1956, a group of five missionaries attempted to bring Christianity to the Waodani people of Ecuador. These people, also known as Aucas, were an isolated tribe known for their violence against outsiders who entered their territory. It was said that no one had ever engaged this tribe without being killed. With the intention of sharing the love of Jesus, the missionaries flew to the jungle and established a camp there. Their efforts came to an end on January 8, 1956, when all five were attacked and killed by a group among the Auca tribe.
The death of the missionaries led to greater effort in evangelizing the Auca tribe. Eventually, most of the villagers, including six out of those who killed the missionaries accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. Today, the church is well established in that region. God worked through the sacrifice of His servants to bring good out of a bad situation.
Apostle Paul suffered greatly because of the gospel. He was arrested and locked up in the prison which seems to be a bad situation.
However, God brought out good result from his experience by saving the jailor and his family. Apostle Paul was able to testify that, through his sufferings, many souls were won to the Lord, believers were strengthened and the church of Christ grew both spiritually and numerically. Whatever situation you are passing through now, whether bad or uncomfortable, look unto Jesus, He will work out everything and bring good out of it on your behalf. Never you give up, only believe.
