TOPIC: DISQUALIFIED THROUGH UNCLEANESS

TEXT: Leviticus 22:1-16

KEY VERSE:
“Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.” - (Leviticus 22:3)

Some students of the Bible are often confused by the Old Testament laws regulating uncleanness. They do not understand the purpose of the laws and often wonder how they impact the New Testament Christian. The concept of uncleanness is certainly an old one. It dates back to the days of Noah when animals were categorised as clean and unclean.

God wanted the Israelites to distinguish between holy and unholy, and between clean and unclean. From our text, those that were under any ceremonial uncleanness, made possible by their own fault, were forbidden to eat of the holy things while they continued in their pollution. Those that had a natural blemish, though they were forbidden to do the priests’ work, were yet allowed to eat of the holy things. This obliged the priests to carefully preserve their purity and to dread everything that would defile them.

Uncleanness means physical or moral impurity. Sinners are unclean and cannot offer worship to God. Their offerings are abominations unto Him.

To appear qualified before Him, we must flee from all impurities because He is too holy to behold iniquity. Nothing defiling will enter heaven. Though the Lord has graciously made adequate provision for our holiness, we cannot possess it without our willingness. We must then resolve to be holy both in our secret and public lives. Remember, the key to heaven’s gate remains, “holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Sin can never enter heaven.

TOPIC: ANOINTING HELPS KNOWLEDGE

TEXT:1 JOHN 2:18-21

MEMORY VERSE: "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things" (1 JOHN 2:20).

Everyone that is born again is born of the Spirit of God and has the Holy Spirit resident within him. The Holy Spirit bears witness and our spirit that we are children of God. He provides the anointing (unction) that will bring all things to our remembrance.

On the field of evangelism, the anointing supplies relevant expressions, illustrations and scriptural passages relevant to the situation of a sinner to bring conviction. "And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth" (1 Corinthians 14:25).

A child of God enjoys the privilege of being assisted by the Holy Spirit in his or her study. Seemingly difficult concepts are made simpler as the Holy Spirit enlightens and strengthens the eyes of our understanding.

Sometimes, having studied much and prepared fully for an examination, a believer may experience total blankness in the examination hall. Rather than fretting and panicking, a moment of prayer for assistance of the Holy Spirit would help in recalling answers.

QUOTE: The Holy Spirit enlightens and strengthens.

CHALLENGE: Grieve not the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER: Help me Lord to always yield to the Holy Spirit.
