DATE: 29/06/2020.

MESSAGE ANCHORED BY THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.

SHARON. TOPIC : THE BETRAYAL OF THE PRINCE OF PEACE.

MARK 14:43-52; ISAIAH 9:6-7.

I welcome you to our Bible Study tonight, it is your Bible Study, and we praise God for what He's been teaching us, we are now at the critical time that is, we are getting near to the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ, actually in the history, in all that we are studying, we see that Jesus Christ will be crucified, and we need to take this to our heart and follow through all these things we are studying and learning about the betrayal and the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless us as you do what He's teaching us as we are studying the Bible Study about.

In the continuation of what we have been learning and studying about the Lord Jesus Christ, tonight, we are talking about the betrayal of Christ.

Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, even when they came to took Him away to be killed, He was courageous, He was confidence, He was calm and cool to bear all the things that came on Him. And the disciples that promised to died with Him all forsook Him and they fled. Christ is refer to as the Prince of Peace, He's the One that has come to procure and to purchase our Peace, so that we will have Peace in the inner man, we will have Peace in our hearts, and so that we will have Peace in our Spirit, and so that we will have Peace around us and so that we will have Peace in our family and Peace will God, and Peace as we move on in purity of heart until the final day.

POINT ONE: THE BETRAYAL BY THE SON OF PERDITION.

MARK 14:43-46; JOHN 6:70-71; 17:12.

Actually, Judas Iscariot was the son of perdition. And because it was night, they wouldn't be able to identify Jesus Christ and there were other disciples with Him, and they didn't wants Jesus Christ to escape, because of that they ‎needed somebody to show Him out, they needed somebody to point Him out to them, and Judas Iscariot by kissing gave them sign. Jesus Christ called the betrayer the son of perdition.

Characteristics and the quality of son of perdition.

I. The Caution for the betrayer. Matthew 26:24-25; Mark 14:21. Judas Iscariot betrayed JESUS and it was without caution. The Lord had warned him and cautioned him, but he didn't yielded to the warning of Christ.

II. The Covetousness of the betrayer. Matthew 26:15-16; Judges 16:4-5,18. Judas Iscariot betrayed JESUS Christ because of his covetousness, he negotiated with the chief priests to delivered him to their hands, and they covenanted with him with 30 pieces of silver, shame on Judas Iscariot because, in the land of Israel, 30 pieces of the silver was a price of the slave, and not the price of a Master, so Judas Iscariot was going to sell the Lord his Master as a price of a slave. Upon all the messages that Jesus preached, Judas Iscariot wasn't paying attention, he was looking for the opportunity when he will betray the Lord because of his covetousness.

III. The Conduct of betrayers. Matthew 26:48-50; 1 Chronicles 12:17; Luke 21:16-19. When somebody has made up his mind to betray a friend into the hands of those that will kill him and destroy him, and he has the mind of getting money out of it, he had a betraying conduct, and that's exactly what Judas Iscariot did, he used kissing to show Jesus Christ to those that will kill Him. Judas Iscariot was supposed to be a friend, a companion of Jesus Christ, yet as a friend, he loved money more than he loved Jesus Christ his friend. When JESUS Christ sent the disciples two by two, and He gave them gift and power of healing, Jesus Christ also gave him gift of healing, and gift to succeed in ministry. Then, he was acting like a friend, he was talking like a friend, but actually he was an enemy. He was a friendly foe but he was acting like a friend.

IV. The Cohorts /Companions /companies of betrayers.  John 18:5; Acts 7:51-53; ‎2 Timothy 3:1-3. The people that accompany Judas Iscariot, they came ready to take Jesus Christ by all means. Judas Iscariot was no more in fellowship with the other disciples, but now he was with the Cohorts, he was with the companies, he was with the people that were going to arrest the Lord Jesus Christ.

V. The Consultation with Betrayers. Matthew 26:2-4; Luke 22:3-6; Psalms 2:3-12. Actually, Judas Iscariot had consultation with the people that wanted Jesus Christ betrayed, he had consultation with the people that wanted Jesus Christ arrested, he had consultation with the people that wanted Jesus Christ crucified, he had consultation with the people that wanted Jesus Christ killed, he consulted with them because Satan entered into him and drew him and pull him to the people who are going to do the Will and the wish of Satan. It was a premeditated action, it wasn't something that just came upon him all of the sudden, he communed and negotiated with them how he might betray Him, it's a murderous and bad work but he said he can do it, and they were glad.

VI. The Callousness /Cruelty /Cold hearted of the betrayers. Matthew 24:10-12; Psalms 41:9; 55:12-14; 1 Chronicles 12:17; 2 Timothy 3:1-4. They hated Jesus Christ, and before they could betrayed Him, they called Him Lord, and yet they had hatred in their hearts, they love money more than they loved the Lord, and that's what happens today, the betrayal is not limited to Jesus Christ, and Judas Iscariot betrayer is not limited to that son of perdition, in fact, Jesus Christ said, near His coming, at the time of the coming of Christ, betrayers will come, either they are looking for money, either they looking for for what to eat, Jesus Christ said, they will be offended at the stand, they will be offended at the conviction, they will be offended at the none compromising attitude of believers, and He also said, in the last days, many false prophets shall rise, that is, there will be deception, there will be hypocrisy, there will be betrayer, there will be hearts ‎of hatred, there will be kiss of love but rarely from the heart of hatred, if the love of Judas Iscariot is not wax cold, there's no way he could have betrayed Christ, his love had gone down, his love had faded, his love had wax cold and because of that, he could do that dirty work of betraying his Master into the hands of the cruel people that will crucify Him and kill Him. The same thing today, it's when your love wax cold, that you can do anything of the work of betraying to the enemies of a real child of God. Understand, the betrayer didn't stop at the time of Jesus Christ, betrayer didn't start at the time of Jesus, it had been on and on and the betrayer will not stop with the Judas Iscariot, it will continue even unto the last days, that is the day we are living before the Rapture.

VII. The condemnation of the betrayer. Matthew 27:3-5; Psalms 109:6-8; Acts 1:16-20,25; Psalms 41:9; 55:12-14; 109:6-8. Judas Iscariot regretted in himself of what he did, he couldn't spend the money, it's a money of blood, it's the money he got through betraying, he couldn't spend the money that he got in wanting his Master, his Lord, his Shepherd and the Prince of Peace to be betrayed, and so he went to the chief priests to confess and to return the money back. He didn't confessed to Christ, he didn't confessed to God, we confess our sins to God and we turn away from them, He's merciful and just and able to forgive, but if you go to the people that wanted to crucified the Lord, you're all guilty together because, a sinner cannot pardon a sinner, a sinner cannot give salvation to a sinner, a cruel person cannot grants redemption to another sinner, and so Judas Iscariot confessed to the wrong people, and if you're going to be forgiven, you will confess your sins to God, you will confess your sins to the One who has promised to forgive you. Judas Iscariot felt guilty and condemned, the money was burning his hand, the money was burning his heart, he couldn't hold onto the money, there are people who sell others to get their money, such money is a money that will burn your soul, it will burn your spirit, and it will burn everlastingly forever and ever. Judas Iscariot was numbered with the disciples to take out the ministry, the Lord warned him and yet he betrayed his Lord, all the unrepentant betrayers will be condemned. Satan moved Judas Iscariot, Satan propelled him, Satan compelled him and engineered to do what he did, and Satan again engineered him to commit suicide and he regretted himself, but his sin was not cleared off, and his days were cut short.

POINT TWO: THE BREACH OF SCRIPTURES DESPITE PROHIBITION.

MARK 14:47; GENESIS 9:6; REVELATION 13:10.

When those enemies came to took Jesus Christ to be crucified, one of the disciples that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear, and the Lord has prohibited the action of the person that took the sword and cut off the ear of the servant of the high priest, even though the Scriptures prohibited such an action, he still went ahead to cut off the ears of the servant of the highpriest. Obviously, you understand he wasn't aiming at ear, he wanted to cut off the head of the man, he was ready to fight and the Lord has said, pray and watch, watch and pray that you do not fall into temptation, and they heard a lot from Christ, we need to understand that, it doesn't matter how much we hear of the word of God, it doesn't matter how we read of the word of God, without prayer, without watchfulness, we might fall into what the Lord has warned us about. Here we were told that one of the disciples took the sword and he smote off the ear of the servant of the high priest, and that is what they shouldn't have done, the Lord had said that, a man should not kill another man out of hatred, a man should not kill another man out of revenge, a man should not kill another man out of bitterness, at the beginning of the Bible, that's what He said, and at the end of the Bible, that's what He also said. Here is a patience, here is the perseverance and the faith of the Saints, that we shouldn't kill anyone out of hatred, the Lord warned us against the disobedience to the scriptures, the contradiction of scriptures, that we should not carry the sword to kill a neighbour out of hatred, out of bitterness, out of revenge and out of retaliation.

I. The Carnal weapons used by a prayerless warrior. Mark 14:47; Matthew 26:40-41, 51:52; 2 Corinthians 10:3-4; 1 Corinthians 6:1-10. When those people came to took Jesus Christ, the carnal disciple was ready to fight, he was ready to come into warfare, and yet he carried a carnal weapon. There are things that happens in natural world, but we do not war after the flesh, when things happens, when it happens to your father, or to your mother, or to your boss, or to your children, or to your master, don't draw out a sword, we do not use the carnal weapons of the world, we must pray and hold onto the the promises of God. Do not use carnal weapon to solve your problems, our weapons are spiritual, there are people that had problem and challenges, either about their accommodation, either about landed property, either about marriage or it's about employment, and instead of going to pray, instead of telling God about it, they go to the court to iron it out, they want to apply carnal weapon to solve problems, that's sword in the world, maybe it has not happened to you before, let it be that anything that happens in the church, you will solve the problem in the church, rather than going to the world for defence through human right and rule. If you want to solve your problems in the worldly carnal way, you're not going to Heaven then. Those who defraud people, those who cheat on other people, those who suppress other people are unrighteous. Understand, the scriptures in telling us not to apply carnal weapons to solve problems, we are to go back to God, and let God solve the problem.

II. Christ's Warning against Prohibited Warfare.

Matthew 26:52; Luke 22:49-51. John 18:36; James 4:1-4. ‎one of the Disciples  which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Actually, when JESUS Christ told the disciple to put away his sword, He was telling them that they shouldn't fight for Him, He was telling them not to use carnal weapon and fight for Him, He can pray to His Father, and He shall presently give Him more than twelve legions of angels to fight for Him, if somebody want to fight on your behalf, tell him not to fight for you because your weapon is not carnal, or maybe somebody do something wrong to you, and they say although you're gentle, but they will fight to defend you, tell them not to fight for you, we can see what Jesus Christ did, and what He did is very interesting, not only interesting, this is very instructive, when JESUS Christ touched the ear of that man and healed him, it was a disappointment to the one that carried sword and cut off the ear of the servant of the high priest, in the midst of that persecution, in the midst of betrayers, in the midst of injustice, Jesus kept on working miracle, He kept on His healing ministry. He wasn't angry, and He cautioned His disciples not to fight back because His Kingdom is not of this world. You're a believer, you're following after Christ, when something happens, you should be able to say, I'm not of this world, you're not going to fight your battles like the people of the world will fights their battles, when you use carnal weapon, when you use fleshly weapon, and when you do what the people of the world do, to run another person down, it means you're saying that all you have, all your hope is of this world, Jesus Christ said, if you're following Him, you will do what He has done, and you will act the way He's acting. The Lord wants us to be very watchful over our feelings, when somebody hurt us, we must watch over our actions, when‎ Somebody hurts us, and they wants to betray us, and they want to crucify us, and they are persecuting us, we need to watch over our actions and our reaction. And when somebody has hurts you, or hurt somebody you love like the one who drew the sword like he loved Jesus, maybe they hurt your spouse, and they speak against your spouse, and they cheat your child, watch your action, watch your utterances and watch what you're going to do.

III. Courageous Watchfulness in this Present world. 1 Peter 2:19-23; Galatians 1:4. We are not talking about cowardly watchfulness, and we are not going to be bowing our head and going on as helpless people, like we are victims. Jesus Christ was courageous, He told them, 'have you come to arrest me as if you're coming for a robber'? When the Lord has come, He lift up His head, and He looked up and He face what He has to face courageously, we who are Christians, persecution or suffering comes, we are not saying we are watchful like a victim, or like a coward, but we will be courageous, don't drop your head, don't put down your soldiers, don't be afraid in your heart, whatever will happen, whatever they see going to do, you will not revenge, but you're courageous, you will not fight back, but you're courageous, you will not use carnal weapon, but you're courageous, you will not cry before the devil, and you will not cry before the messengers of Satan, but you're courageous and watchful, you take whatever happens courageously, Christ also suffered and He didn't cried, He didn't negotiated, you don't negotiate with Satan, don't negotiate with persecutors, you don't negotiate with the evil doers, and you don't pay them back in their coin, you still pray for them, that's how Jesus Christ courageously faced what came on Him, and left us an example, if you're coward, you're not following His steps, if you're confrontationally, you're not following His steps, because you want to fight back, you're not following His steps, if you're compromising, you're not following His steps, if you're ‎crushed and you turn back, and you're not following the Lord again, you're not following His steps, if you get angry and you say words against them, you're not following His Steps. He wants us to be calm, cool, and courageous. When you stand your ground, when you know that you're following the scriptures and you want the scriptures to be fulfilled in your life, that's is how you follow JESUS. Persecution comes, you will not sin, temptation comes, trials and betrayers comes, you will not sin, the quality and the graciousness of suffering quietness, silence and not fighting back is that you will not sin, don't fret, if you're fretting other people because you're suffering, you're not following Christ. We must be courageous, but we must be watchful over our temper, over our attitudes, over our heart and over our lives. May the Lord give you Grace that you will continue to follow the Lord without looking back and without fighting back, and the Lord will fight for you, everything the Lord wants you to be, you will be, and everything the Lord wants you to do, you will do and you don't have to take laws in your hand, and don't have to use carnal weapon to fight.

POINT THREE: THE BASIS OF THE SURRENDERED OF THE  PRINCE.

MARK 14:48-52; MATTHEW 26:53-56; JOHN 18:4-6.

The attitude of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour is that, all the scriptures must be fulfilled.

What is the basis of the surrendered of Christ the Prince of Peace, the mighty Prince, the powerful Prince, and the supernatural Prince.

I. The indomitable Supremacy of the Supernatural Prince. Matthew 26:53-54; John 18:4-6; Isaiah 9:6. Jesus Christ had power, He had Authority, and yet He surrendered Himself, He had privilege to command Angels to fight for Him, He had supernatural Opportunity, He had calmness, He had Power, He had courage, He had boldness and assurance and confidence to went to the people that wants to arrested Him. His presence demonstrated the Power of the Almighty, He could have escaped and He could have gone away but He didn't do that because He surrendered Himself and that had a purpose.

II. His indispensable Surrender Despite Supreme Power. Mark 14:48-49; John 10:11,17-18; Philippians 2:6-8; 2 Thessalonians 1:7; 2:8. Christ surrendered His life voluntarily, He gave His life, it wasn't something that He was compelled to do, He gave Himself because He thought about your salvation much more than His suffering, He thought of you getting to Heaven, He's lifting you up from the degradation of sin unto the throne of the promise, power of God. He wanted to take you to heaven, and He thought about that more than His sacrifice and it's indispensable because He has to do that for the sins of the world. That's why He did it voluntarily. Even though He has Power to prevent Himself from the people, He still lay down His life because He has the power to lay down.

III. The indescribable Sacrifice of the Solitary Priest. Mark 14:50-52; John 16:32; Hebrews 9:7,11-15,22,27-28; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 5:2; 1 Timothy 2:4-6; Titus 2:14. The disciples made promised that they would die with Christ, they made consecration but they are incapable and incompetent to fulfil that consecration and promise, and when they came to arrest Jesus, they all fled, because JESUS bought it all alone by Himself, He's our Highpriest, and He sacrificed for us, He laid down His life for us, He didn't have any helper, He didn't have any supporter, He didn't have any defender, He didn't have anyone around Him, every word JESUS predicted and prophesied came to passed to details, that nobody will be with Him when He will lay down His life by Himself for us. Now, we can have eternal redemption, we can have eternal inheritance, we can have eternal salvation, we can now have reconciliation with God because of what He had done, He have to do it alone, you have to be in the blood of Jesus that was shed and you have to give your life unto Him, you have to believe on Him because if you don't believe on Him, final day of Judgement will come, and without believing in the blood shed of Jesus ‎Christ, there's no forgiveness, there's no reconciliation with God, death will come eventually and the end of life will come eventually, and you need that blood of Jesus, He shed that blood for the remission of our soul, let Him bear your sin, let Him bear your guilt and let Him bear your condemnation, and let Him bear your punishment, let Him carry away the eternal Judgment you should have go through because Christ has now make that sacrifice and He did it all alone and it was accepted by Heavenly Father. You need to believe on Him now and give your life unto Him, you become born again by faith, and you keep on doing everything by faith, and if you've done that before, keep on believing, so that your life that you live you will live it by faith of Christ Jesus Jesus Christ is crucified, He bore our sin, identify with Him on the Cross of Calvary, you are the One that should have been crucified and He took your place, you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that brings you into Kingdom, that brings you into being Born Again, that brings you into reconciliation, that brings you into eternal redemption He suffered all alone to pay for your sin, and you live by His faith, His Salvation and His redemption is for everyone, He wants everyone to be saved, He gave Himself for us that He might redeem us so that no sin will remain in your life, no sin will remain in your habit, and so that no sin will remain in your soul and He gives you a zeal for righteousness, purity, holiness and for the work of God. Already He has bore everything you should have bored, what you need to do is to believe on Him, accept Him and be born again.
Tell the Lord that,
 you will not betray Him.
You will not betray your Husband.
You will not betray your wife.
You will not betray your parent.
You will not betray a friend.
You will not betray anyone, this is the age and this is the time to betrayal as we come near to the end of the world, tell the Lord that, you will not betray the trust of anyone,
You will not be a son of perdition, I am not ‎going to be a person that will beach the commandment of God and the scriptures, I will not use carnal weapons, I'm not going to go on in the way of betrayers, but I'm going to go on in the word of the Lord, and you will remain spiritual. ‎
