TOPIC: LIVE BY GOD'S WORD
TEXT: Deuteronomy 11:13-21
KEY VERSE:
“Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.” - (Deuteronomy 11:18)
Man has a tendency to forget previous experiences and keep repeating past mistakes. Often, the Israelites forgot God’s blessings upon their lives. They complained incessantly and rebelled frequently.
God knew the state of their hearts and therefore, warned them through Moses that they must not forget where they were coming from, and avoid worship of other gods. Were that to happen, they would attract God’s anger. He would cause severe suffering to come upon them. To avoid this, they must take His word to heart, remember it always and allow it to moderate their lives. The Israelites were required not only to keep God’s word, but teach their children continuously to remember His word and obey it. For effect, they should write the word down where they can read and remember it always. This is the only way the Lord will give them and their children long life, and bless them so much as to give them “the days of heaven upon the earth”.
Believers abide in the Lord by learning, internalising and meditating on the word of God. You will save yourself a lot of heartache, trouble, pain and bitter experiences in life by living according to His precepts. His expectations from you are easy to fulfil. The Lord is not a task master. He is meek and loving in nature.
You must make up your mind that whatever it takes, you will never deviate from what the Lord commands, nor would you neglect to impress on your family the necessity of allowing our lives to be governed by God’s words. Indeed, therein lies our blessings.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Only those who live by God’s rule, will receive His large use.

GOD'S AMAZING WORDS
TEXT: PSALM 119:97-105
MEMORY VERSE: "How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way" (PSALM 119:103, 104).
David Mathis describes the Bible (the Word of God) as "one of the most precious objects imaginable. No antique or priceless artefact, no famous piece of art or giant diamond is more precious than whatever medium communicates God's own self-revelation." He insists that the Bible is not just the most printed, distributed, and quoted book in the history of the world, but God's inspired speech to humanity through His prophets and apostles.
As Tony Reinke says, "You need to celebrate the wonder of the access you have today to God's compiled word. Bear in mind that God's Word, first scratched in stone, then on processed animal skins, and then on products of trees, is today the Creator's centrepiece for drawing together His people." How do you use the Bible, the most valuable piece of technology you have ever touched? You must read it to renew your mind. However, if you are not a child of God, it is not possible for you to be transformed by the Word as you are a stranger to His kingdom. Get born again.
QUOTE: God's inspired speech to humanity.
CHALLENGE: How do you use the Bible?
PRAYER: Lord, write Your Word on the table of my heart.
