TOPIC: THE UNCONQUERABLE DAVID.
1 SAMUEL 16:12-13.
The Lord was looking for a man in the land of Israel, a man that will be able to deliver the people of God from the harassment of the Philistines, the Lord was looking for a man, a man that will stand as a representative of the Lord, and eventually, He found David. And then, He told Samuel to arose and pour the Anointing oil on David, because David was a man He's looking for, he was a man according to the purpose of God, he was a man after God's own heart. If the Lord can find you today as a man, and as a woman, and the Lord can say, "this is he", the hope of your community, the hope of your people around you "This is he", the one the Lord has been looking for, the one that will mop the ground, and the one that will root out enemies, the one that will conquer the enemies that face the people of God.
What are we saying about David, and what lessons can we learn from him.
✔️ He was called.
✔️ He was chosen.
✔️ He was Anointed.
Those three words, those three things that you see in the life of David, called, chosen and anointed, how important that is? The anointing came upon David, and as the anointing came upon him, that happened in 1 Samuel chapter 16, and then in the very next chapter, we found Goliath standing at the gate between him and the fulfillment of his calling, and I'm going to tell you today, any time the Lord calls and chooses and anoints, there will be something standing between you and the fulfillment of that calling, that thing you will find out if you have not found out already will want to challenge the call of God upon your life, called, you're called to repentance, called, you're called to righteousness, called, you're called to redemption, and as the Lord calls you, and then you respond to that call of God, then you are chosen, the people who are chosen are the people who respond to the call, and then as He calls and chooses, then He says, don't go yet for you to be able to do everything the Lord has called you to do right in front of you, there's something that you will see, that against the anointing of the Spirit of God.
As you have seen a man called, chosen and anointed, and yet you understand the anointing the Lord want you to have, He wants you to sleep on the bed of roses for the rest of your life.
The anointing actually raise you up and makes you to be able to face what will try to challenge the call of God in your life, the anointing actually raise you up and makes you to be able to face what will try to challenge you, and what will challenge the choice of God in your life, what will challenge the anointing of God upon your life? The anointing will always be challenge, Goliath was coming against David now, and if David overcome this Goliath, that will open the door for him to overcome all the other enemies, Goliath was standing at the gate, and overcoming Goliath in this chapter 17 of 1 Samuel will open the door for a lifetime of overcoming, on the other hand, been defeated by Goliath at this time will end his life, it will end his ministry, and it will end every prospects, and every possibilities of success in the future in his life. That's why this gateway into the blessings, this gateway into the victory, this gateway into the overcoming life was very important for David, and it's very important for you and for me.
POINT ONE: THE CHARACTERISTICS OF UNCONQUERABLE DAVID.
ACTS 13:22,36; 1 SAMUEL 13:14; PSALMS 40:8; 143:10.
What did God see in David?
What did God appreciate in David?
And what is God looking for in your life that He will say; "I'M GOING TO PUT ALL MY POWER, AND ALL MY DIVINE ENERGY, AND ALL THE POSSIBILITIES OF FAITH, AND ALL THE POSSIBILITIES OF GRACE IN TO YOUR LIFE". God is looking for a man and a woman that will be after His own heart, a man that will do according to His Pleasure, a man that will do the totality of the will of God.
When God had removed Saul, He raised up unto the children of Israel David, now we know that God is no respecter of persons, God is no respecter of faces, God is no respecter of titles, God is no respecter of tribes, and God is no respecter of people. God removed Saul and He put David instead, there must be a reason and it's very simple, what God found in David, He didn't found in Saul, that's why He removed Saul and then He brought out David. That's what God always does, He saw the qualities in David, and it doesn't matter if David is coming from any tribe, of coming from any community, or coming from any nation, or coming from any group of people, and where ever He sees those qualities, wherever He sees those characteristics, He makes His choice. He was looking for a man that will fulfil His will.
What kind of man God was looking for that will replace Saul, and what kind of person God is looking for today?
I. A man that will not fulfil the will of self.
II. A man that will not fulfill the will of Satan.
III. A man that will not fulfil the will of society.
IV. He will not be a man that self will is driving around.
V. He will not be a man that society will tie a robe around his waist and driving him in any direction they pleased.
VI. But he will be a man not under the control of self, Satan and society.
When God was searching such a man, He's not searching base on his name, He's not searching base on his title, but it's a condition of heart, it's not his education, is not his beauty, but it's the condition of the heart. For man looketh at the outward appearance, but God does not look on the outward appearance, God looks at the Heart, and when He finds a man whose heart is aligned to the will of God, whose heart is aligned to the word of God and to the will of God, who is ready to fulfil His will, then God will choose him and anoint him to be His representative. That man must be ready to say, "Enough of the will of self, enough of the will of Satan, and enough of the will of society". Now from this moment, and from this time, you will decide to fulfil only and always the Will of God. That's the man and that's the woman who shall fulfil all His will.
You understand part of the Will of God will Not be too simple, and it'll not be too easy, for the Lord is saying, such man is not going to be looking at how high, how great, and how difficult the challenges are, He will put his heart, his mind to fulfilling His will only, and he will not be fulfilling his will when he's happy, he will not be fulfilling God's will only when he's joyful, but he will be fulfilling the Will of God everytime, every moment, all the days of his life, He will not be fulfilling God's will only when things go his own way and when things are just as he expects, but when things are what he doesn't expects, and when things are not as the conditions and directions of things around him. A man that will do the will of God will go in a way wasn't expecting, and yet he will make up his mind and he will fulfil all the Will of God. If that's your mind today, if that's your heart today, God will say, "I have found a man after My heart", who will fulfil all His will.
Serving your generation is not by the will of your self.
Serving your own generation is not by the will of society, David served his own generation by the will of God, and that is what God is looking at today.
There are many people that do not understand the word of God, and you know in this church, we all says we don't believe in eternal security for salvation, what that means is, there are people that says once you're saved, you're always forever saved. That is not bible, and that is calvinistic, that's the doctrine of Calvinism, but the Bible teaches us, there's only conditional security, you're saved, and then you keep on relying on the Grace of God, and you keep on relying on the strength of God within, so as to walk and to live in the Will of God, and in the word of God, conditional security not eternal security for salvation, yet in this church, there are people that appear to believe eternal security, not for salvation but eternal security in service. But the word of God is telling us, there's no eternal security for salvation, there's no eternal security for service, and when God chose Saul, if there were eternal security, He would not have removed him, but He removed him because there's no eternal security in the service of the Lord. That's why if you're working for the Lord, and Lord has chooses you, He wants you to have a characteristic of abiding in the word of God and in the will of God, and abiding in the path of righteousness.
If you sin, if you go after the will of self, or you go after the will of Satan, or you go after the will of society, and you abandoned the will of God, the consequence is, God will act to you like He acted to Saul.
We see David, he was a man after God's heart, and we see the devotion of his heart, we see the decision of his heart, and we see the dedication of his life, he delighted to do the Will of God, and he wants to be at the very center of the Will of God.
what a great revelation in our lives:
✔️ if there's no test, there will be no Testimony.
✔️ if there's no fight, there will be no Victory.
✔️ if there's no Opposition, there will be no Conquering.
✔️ if there's no battle, and no warfare, there will be no conquering .
You see there are many people, they want to be more than conquerors, but they fear challenges, and they fear the good fight of faith, and they they fear persecution and opposition,
✔️if there's no test, if there's no trial, if there's no trouble, there will be no Testimony.
✔️ if there's no conflicts, if there's no opposition, if there's no persecution, if there's no challenge, if there's no difficulties, how will you be conqueror?
POINT TWO: THE COMBATANTS AGAINST UNCONQUERABLE DAVID.
1 SAMUEL 17:4.
What made David to be a conqueror and more than a conqueror is that, he had combatants fought against him. Here David found himself in the champion of the enemies camp, Goliath was representing the Philistines, and the philistines were after Israel, the Philistines were after the nation, and after Saul. They knew Saul, but they didn't know David, the Philistines knew Israel, but they didn't know David, and so when David came out Goliath was fighting against him, not because there's a personal quarrel, not because there's a personal conflict, not because there's a personal battle, and not because there's a personal challenge, he was fighting David because David represented the nation of Israel, and he was representing Satan. You need to understand that, Satan is not rarely after you as an individual, he's after the church, he's after Christ, but he cannot fights Christ, Christ is sited on the right hand Majesty on the Throne of Authority and power, He's highly Exalted above principalities and powers, and therefore, Satan rarely is against the Church and the Israel of God, and you happen to be a follower of Christ, a representative of the church, and it's because you have a part in the church, and because of your place and your position in the church, that's why Satan is after you. Ordinarily, he wouldn't bother you, Goliath will not confront and he will not bother David, but because of who David was standing for, he was standing for God, and he was standing for Israel, and Goliath, says if David overcome him, then the Philistines will be Israel's slaves, but if he overcome David, then will the children of Israel be slaves to the Philistines. That's a challenge today, the battle line is drawn and the devil wants to fight against your life, but you know, if you do not understand, if you do not know who your enemy is, you will be fighting shadows, you will spend all your admonition, all your strengths and all your abilities on nothing! You will waste your anointing if you're fighting the wrong enemy. Goliath was a champion of the Philistines, you don't have the same Goliath of that age, of that time, of that era, right now who then is a Goliath today? To answer that question, you ask yourself, what the Goliath want to do to David? Goliath wanted to kill David, what is the thing today that want to kill you? That's a Goliath, what did Goliath wanted to do to David? He wanted to give his flesh to the birds of the air, what is it today that want to give your life to the birds of the air? That's a challenge, that's what we are going to find out, what did Goliath wanted to do? He wanted to defeat David, so as to show Israel that Israel cannot stand, and that nation cannot stand. What is it today that wants to defeat your life to show to the world that the church does not have power, that the church does not have purity that the church is claiming to have? That's the Goliath today that we are fighting against. And we are going to win and overcome today IN Jesus Name Amen. In fact, He says greater is in us than he that is in the world. With God, is a arm of flesh and with us He's our God and He will gives us the victory.
Now, as we find out that Goliath today, I'm going to spell the word "GOLIATH" that is fighting people today for you.
✔️G• Greed. 1 Timothy 6:9-10. You see if there's anything that wants to destroy us today is greed. Many people don't understand the Goliath of today before you pray, and before you fight, what is it today that wants to destroy your Christian life, what is it today that wants to make us fall, what is it today that wants to destroy us spiritually, and physically and in every way and what is it today that wants to destroy our service for the Lord, it's Greed. Those who are greedy, greedy of gain, if greed destroys you, if the love of money get a better part of your life, if greedy, if running after money makes you to deviates from the will of God, and from the word of God, Goliath has conquered you already.
✔️ O• Oppression. Ecclesiastes 7:7. You see oppression and you find it everywhere, and that oppression is the Goliath of today, it's like that in every office, is like that in every community, Oppression destroys us if we do not know how to conquer Goliath. If you're looking for a literal Goliath today, you won't find the Goliath we found in 1 Samuel chapter 17, but the Goliath of today is oppression, and you find in every locality, in the house were you're living as a tenant, the oppression is there, in the office where you are working, the oppression is there in the place where you are schooling, oppression is there, and they were trying to conquer you, they oppress you, and if you don't know how to conquer Goliath, that oppression will conquer you. Even among the people that call themselves Christians, they will try to oppress you, so as to be able to crush your spirit and to destroy your soul, and then to be able to noulify your consecration to God. And eventually, when oppression come to your life, you will be acting as a mad man, and then they will be laughing at you, they are the one that caused the temporary madness, but they will be laughing at you because they know it's their oppression that is turning you to another thing.
✔️ L• Lucifer. Isaiah 14:12; 1 John 4:4. You know sometimes, Lucifer himself will come, he will say his messengers are not dealing with you enough and tough, the Goliath of 1 Samuel chapter 17 is gone, he's dead, but the Goliath of today is Lucifer, he's the champion of the principalities and powers of the air, he will try to challenge your life, Lucifer will fall in your life, Satan will fall in your life IN Jesus Name Amen. Wherever Satan comes against your life, wherever that Lucifer comes against your life, you will overcome.
✔️I• Infirmity. Luke 13:11-13. Infirmity is the Goliath of today, and sometimes, people don't even worry because of this kind of infirmity, there are two kind of sicknesses, there's what we called Horizontal sicknesses, horizontal is a line that you draw, that is going from left to right, going from west to East, it lies down, there's a vertical sickness, and the vertical sicknesses are in number than horizontal, there are some few sicknesses that will make you lie down, like someone that is bed riding, that's horizontal sickness, and you cannot eat for yourself, you cannot eat by yourself, and you cannot do anything by yourself, that's a horizontal sickness, but you see the other sicknesses which are very very serious, that's vertical sickness, you might still be standing, you might still be walking about but you're sick, like this woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. Her sickness was vertical sickness, this woman has vertical sickness, she can still come out, JESUS didn't go to her house, she was still able to move around, but she was battling with 18years vertical sickness. Do you remember that woman with the issue of Blood for 12years, that's vertical sickness, though, she was still able to move about, that's how she came to the crowd, but her sickness was vertical. Do you remember Bathelomew the blind man? He also had vertical sickness, he was blind, but he could come out of the house and go to the side of the road and be begging, and when he heard that Jesus was passing by, he got up and he followed after Him, and he began to say, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, have mercy on me. You know the people that have ulcer, that is vertical sickness, even the first stage of cancer, they might still be walking about and feeling the pains, they are still functional in the way they go to school, market and office, but that thing is very serious, that's vertical sickness. Some people don't care about vertical sicknesses until the sickness comes so serious and lie them down and because an Horizontal sickness and vertical sicknesses get rid of them.
✔️A• Abominations. Deuteronomy 18:9-12. Abomination is destroying many people today, and is destroying their future as well. What makes the Lord to drive us away from His presence, from victory, and6 from conquering is abomination, abomination drives us away from inheritance that God wants to give us, but because of abomination, He withdrew it back. The witchcraft, the familiar spirits, the occultism, and the joining of the cults, you know sometimes, there are some parents that say their children joined a cult because the young people are experimentally everything on earth, and they allowed cult coming to their family, that's Goliath, witchcraft Coming to your family, and secret cult coming into your family, occultism coming into your family will destroy the family, it's not just that child, joining of occultism that brought the presence of Satan into your family, that is Lucifer finding a seat, finding a throne right there in your family, and if you don't do something about it, that's the Goliath that wants to destroy you.
✔️ T• Temptations. James 1:12-13. Temptations are the things wanting to destroy us like Goliath, temptations are the things wanting to destroy the people of God, the Temptation of the flesh, the temptation of covetousness, the temptation of marrying an unbeliever, the temptation of going along with the world in their politics, the temptation of doing evil, the temptation of becoming wicked, the temptation of abandoning the will of God in your life, that's the Goliath wanting to destroy us and bringing forth death.
✔️H• Hatred or Hostility. 1 John 3:15. What do we called hostility? Hostility is long abiding anger in the heart, you know somebody has done something against you, and you cannot passes by and go your way, or somebody has done something that embarrassed you and make you unhappy, being unhappy is different from being angry, being sad is different from being angry, you're a human being, although you're Born Again, if somebody slaps you, you feel the pain, and you feel unhappy and you feel sad but if you allow the unhappiness of the sadness to degenerate into your anger, and then you become angry in a settled manner, that that anger is growing and growing and growing in your heart until it becomes hostility, that actually is the Goliath, is not just the Goliath of 1 Samuel chapter 17 trying to destroy you, that anger, that hostility, that hatred comes against your life to destroy you. If you have hatred in your heart, then you lost eternal life, hatred or hostility will show in a different ways, there are people that get angry and they have hatred, and they break plates whenever there's a quarrel between children and parent or between husband and wife, they will start breaking plates in the house, that's one differentiation of anger, there are people who don't do like that when they are angry, other people have deep sited anger and they are quiet, you know there are people that are absolutely and totally quiet when they are angry, and some people will withdraw when they are angry, they will withdraw their smiles, they will withdraw their beautiful face, they will withdraw their goodness they use to do, or they use to have, you will see the evidence of anger, they will withdraw what they are doing before, we call it fight of flight, some people have hatred, they fight, other people have hatred, they flee, they run away, they withdraw, but you see if hatred is in the heart, that hatred is the thing that comes to destroy you, but you will not be destroyed, you will conquer Goliath and as you recognize now the description of Goliath in your life now, you will come with Faith and overcome.
POINT THREE: CONQUERING LIKE UNCONQUERABLE DAVID.
1 SAMUEL 17:32.
These are the things we must have to be like unconquerable David.
✔️The courage of Faith 1 Samuel 17:32. David had Courage of faith, and if we are going to conquer like David conquered, we must have the courage of faith.
✔️ The Conviction of Faith. 1 Samuel 17:33-36. David said, he cannot be defeated, and he cannot be conquered, and he said he's going to conquer and defeat the Philistines because he had conviction.
✔️ The Confidence of faith. 1 Samuel 17:37. When you believe the word of God and you know you're called, and you know you're chosen, and you know you're anointed, and that anointing abides in your life, then you have the confidence of faith.
✔️ The Contradiction of faith. 1 Samuel 17:38-40. As you're believing the Lord and saying yes you're standing on this word of the Lord, there may be people that will suggest some other methods apart from the Name of God, apart from the Name of JESUS Christ and apart from the blood of Jesus, and apart from the power that resides in your faith and in the word of God. You see, there will be a contradiction of faith, they will give you methods, they will give you ideas, they will call you to go places as if going to those places will solve the problem of your life, but you need to understand that the Name of Jesus is what you have, and as you mentioned the Name of Jesus, every kneel shall bow. Don't run away, draw near, you see when you draw nearer, you will see that your problem is smaller, if you draw away, if you draw beck, if you run away, the farther you go, the bigger the problem will seem to you, you think that those witches are mightier and powerful when you're running from them, when you run away from difficulties, when you run away from challenges, when you run away from Goliath, it'll appears greater and higher in your sight, but when you run towards them, and you go in the Name of the Lord, you will find Goliath will become actually smaller.
✔️ the Contempt of the Flesh. 1 Samuel 17:41-44. Goliath belittled David, he ridiculed David, he insulted David, he abused David, don't worry for the abuse, or their insults, or their assault, or their dismay, or their belittling you, or their humiliating you, that's there work but you know, you come in the Name of the Lord.
✔️ the Confession of faith. 1 Samuel 17:45-47. Today, you will confess your faith, and then you will possess what you confess.
When will your victory come, this day.
When you will conquer, this day.
When you will have the victory, this day.
When will you bring Goliath in your life down, this day.
✔️ The Conquest of Faith. 1 Samuel 17:48-50,52. You will smite the Philistines, you will conquer the Philistines, you will conquer every Goliath in your life, David prevailed over the Philistines, you will prevail, when David overcame, he was standing as a representative of the children of Israel when he overcame, he overcame Goliath and all other children of Israel, they also ran after the Philistines and they pursued them and they prevailed on them, because JESUS Christ the Son of David, because He has prevailed over Satan the prince and the champion of the enemies, because we are the followers of Christ, we are going to arise and we are going to pursue, and we are going to conquer. every problem is taking away, every challenge the Lord is giving us the victory and every diseases, every sicknesses, every infirmities, every work of the devil will be destroyed IN Jesus Name Amen.
Rise up and conquer your Goliath.
Rise up and conquer your problem.
Rise up and conquer in the battle that is raging, now you're going to overcome this day, the Lord will grants you the victory.
