TOPIC: THE BENEVOLENT MINISTRY OF PASTORAL FATHERHOOD IN EVERY CHURCH
#TEXTS: 1 CORINTHIANS 4:14-21.
#NOTE: AS we look at this passage today, we find Paul the Apostle talking to the believers in the Corinth, he wanted to bring them back to the foundation of Faith, he wanted them to also understand the connection between the Pastors and the people who hear the word of God through them and were converted. He also wanted them to remember the revelation from Heaven through the Apostle Paul to them, He wanted them to understand the Grace of God that saves them, and how they come into the Family of God. He wanted them also to understand how Jesus became their Saviour and how they became children of God, and they also became sons and daughters of the Apostle. The Grace of God has transformed their lives, he was talking to them as their Spiritual Father in the Kingdom, he's talking to us as well that the gospel of salvation has come to us like the revelation God gave to the Apostle our father in the Faith, he want us to understand the fatherhood of the Apostles, He have us pastors and teachers, so that they will edify the church and the church will be prepare for the coming of the Lord. We have preachers and pastors so that they will lead us to Salvation.
#POINT ONE: PAUL'S MINISTY BEYOND THAT OF TEN THOUSAND TECAHERS.
1 CORINTHIANS 4:14-16.
I. The Uniqueness of Pioneering Apostles above ten thousand teachers.
1 Corinthians 4:14-15, Deuteronomy 33:3-5, 2 Samuel 18:3, Acts 9:15, Ephesians 3:3-9, 2 Timothy 1:9-11.
Paul was a pioneering person, he was so committed to the Spiritual and physical welfare of the people, his ministry was extensive, his calling was wide and great, that's why the Lord gave him the depth and the height riches of ministry. And he wrote some of the chapters of the Bible, he saw the revelation that people of the Old Testament dispensation never had. And he gave that revelation to the church as a unique pioneering. The revelation of God gave to all the Apostles, Moses, Joshua and other Old Testament prophets didn't have such revelations the Lord revealed to Paul the Apostle. The revelation God gave to Paul was so full, so deep, no great, so high, so universal and he wanted the believers at Corinth. He wants us to understand what the Lord has revealed today is greater and deeper than all those other people ever had. The Anointing of Paul, his assignment came from the Lord directly by the meekness of his calling.
II. The usefulness of Paul's passion, in tenacious Temperate Teachers
1 Corinthians 4:14-15, Acts 13:1-3, 14:22-23, 1 Corinthian 9:25-27, Titus 1:8-9.
Paul the Apostle was an uncompromising preachers, he was tenacious, he had passion that makes him to become as tender heart, he has set an example that we should follow so that we also become a tenacious teacher, we shouldn't compromise, the life of Paul the Apostle is a pattern we ought to follow, if you're appointed in the ministry, look at the usefulness of his passion and follow through, do you can grow in the ministry, make sure you're doing what you're called to do. You're temperate and have the impart you ought to have so you'll be temperate in all things. He gives us an example as he committed the work into our hands.
III. The universality of Paul's Pattern for truly transformed Temples.
1 Corinthians 4:16,11:1. Philippians 3:17, 1 Thessalonians 1:6, 2:8-13.
We are Temples of God, and we see how Paul the Apostle presented himself A Holy Temple unto God, his commitment was so universal, he had the grace of God, he was able to do the Will of God, we should have that same Grace and be followers of him as he was follower of Christ, there's ability and the Grace of God today, everyone that is real child of God must look at the pattern he has set before us and be followers of him. Don't mark the people that do not follow JESUS, but they are followers of their mind and secular.
#POINT TWO: THE PURPOSEFUL MISSION OF TEACHABLE, TRUSTWORTHY TIMOTHY.
1 CORINTHIANS 4:17-21.
Timothy internalized what he heard from Paul his Spiritual Father, he prayed on what he heard, he had the gift also, and he's the faithful servant of God.
I. The sending forth of Trusted faithful Timothy.
Philippians 2:19, Acts 19:21-22, Philippians 2:19-23, 1 Thessalonians 3:2,6.
Timothy never said no to the word of Paul, he never said no to anything Paul the Apostle instructed him to do, he wasn't an eye service Servant, he was truthful and faithful and trusted. That's the pattern we should follow.
II. The selflessness of Teachable, focused Timothy.
1 Corinthian 16:10, 4:17, 16:10, Philippians 2:19-21, 2 Timothy 3:10,14.
Timothy was focused, he was a person that will remained teachable, if you're going to be like a teachable, focused Timothy, when you're giving an instruction to follow, you will follow that instruction and also ask questions where you seems not to understand. The ministry is greater than the minister, the challenges are not greater than the ministry, you must take all those instructions coming to you and take them to prayer to be faithful and consecrated servant of God and do it as it's given, Timothy preached exactly what was given to you, we should also preach according as we've received the message. Timothy had the same attitude and commitment of Paul his instructor.
III. The Stewardship of Truthful, Fruitful Timothy.
1 Corinthians 4:17, 1 Timothy 1:3, 4:6,15-16, 1 Timothy 4:11-13,6:2, 2 Timothy 4:2,5, 2:2, 15, 3-6.
Timothy had the pattern of Paul his mentor, he lived the word of a pastor, he was a teacher, he was a pastor, he was an evangelist, and he was a trainer. He trained other people to grow and do the work of God, everything you learned and everything you got, and every ministry you have, pass it on other people take other people and train them refine them, reform them so that they can also take part in the work of God with you. And also make sure you're faithful, you're teachable and remain Holy, righteous and develop others, make sure you're also approved of God for the work.
#POINT THREE: THE PARENTAL MINDFULNESS MARKED BY TENDER - TOUGH THOROUGHNESS.
1 CORINTHIANS 4:18-21.
Timothy was faithful, he was holy and righteous. He didn't delegates other people to his assignments, there was no pride manifested in him, he was not chased away from the ministry God has given him, he didn't manifested pride, disobedience and unfaithfulness.
I. The Empty Pride of some carnal Corinthians.
1 Corinthians 4:18-19,5:2,8:1-3, Colossians 2:18, Psalms 2:1-5.
Those Corinthians people manifested pride that have no revelation, no knowledge and that pride didn't help them to do the work effectively. They had the leaven of compromise, they had the leaven of self esteem, they had the leaven of pride, they puffed up like break, they had the leaven of unrighteousness, they didn't manifested the Power of the Holy Ghost over sin and over society, we ought to be sober and never puff up, there's nothing to be proud of if you're a real child of God. Come out of the spirit of pride and puffed up and come into the experiential Knowledge and Power of the Holy Ghost.
II. The Evident power of Steadfast, consecrated Christians.
1 Corinthians 4:20, Romans 14:18, 1 Thessalonians 1:5-10, 2 Timothy 1:7,1 Peter 1:3-5, 2 Corinthians 4:6-7.
There must be the evident of the Power of the Holy Ghost in our lives, there must be the evident Power of steadfastness to become a steadfast consecrated Christian, when you have the Power of the Holy Ghost, you will receive fervency and zeal to continue. Be steadfast in righteousness, be steadfast in Holiness and have the power in the Kingdom. Let the Power of the Holy Ghost saturate you, whatever is happening in the community, you must have the JOY in the Holy Ghost. If people ridicule you, because of the Holy Ghost in you, whatever they say, you'll rejoice In the Holy Ghost and do righteousness. At the time of challenges, at the time of temptation, the Joy of the Holy Ghost should be manifesting in your life and righteousness at the time of challenges. You will be steadfast and consecrated as Christian. People will see the evidence of the Holy Ghost in you, when you're born again, the Spirit of God inside you will not allow you to be fearful and timid, you will be bold and not be afraid of any power, when you say you're born again and Sanctified and baptized in the Holy Ghost, you will not have the Spirit of fear, but you will have the Spirit of Love and of Power and of a sound mind, all the distractions of Satan is gone.
