OMNISCIENT GOD

TEXT: PSALM 10:1-11

KEY VERSE: "Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?" (PSALM 10:1).

The wicked, steeped in his ignorance, sin and pride, is unaware that the Lord is not in hiding, but rather sitting atop the affairs of man and his environment. Just as earthlings do not perceive the great movement of their planet, so are the wicked unconscious that God is fully in charge of the world and its activities.

In His wisdom, God allows life and nature to continue their normal course. He sees the cruelty of evil people against the innocent. He also hears the complaints of the latter, who wonders whether the Lord is hiding Himself "in times of trouble". Be assured that God still cares. He will intervene in your situation.

Increasingly, the world is given to the idolatry of technological advances, wealth and lust, and becoming more and more atheistic. People reason that it does not add up to crave for an "abundant life" hereafter when you already have a pleasurable and high life here on earth. They are governed by materialism, which will not last because there is an appointed time for the Lord to step in to redress things. He will defend His people and fulfil His plan.

As it is characteristic with the Lord, He will always laugh last in His ways with man. He will judge the unrepentant who shun His salvation plan. He will make good His promise to "punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity..." (Isaiah 13:11). Only those who repent genuinely before the judgment day will escape His wrath. The moment to do so is now - time is running out.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No hiding place for the wicked.

ADVENTUROUS YOUTH

TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:31-38

MEMORY VERSE: "And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth" (1 SAMUEL 17:33).

Why are so many youths of today turned off? Why do they drop out? Should life be so boring for young people? Is there any real adventure left in our times? Or are the only adventures left in our society found in immorality, drugs and violence?

May be you are young and full of zest. Do you like challenges? Then take the challenge of using your God-given talents and gifts to serve your Creator in the way He intends you use them. Be active!

David was a fearless and adventurous young man. He dared to confront Goliath whom even the most experienced men of war in Israel dreaded. Though King Saul doubted his ability, David did not allow this to deter him. His faith, strength and courage were hinged on the all-powerful Jehovah and His past faithfulness to him.

We need more daring boys and girls today whose strong faith in God will move them to explore unknown regions and accomplish great feats for God's glory and the good of mankind. Enlist in God's army and be an adventurous evangelist.

QUOTE: We need more daring boys and girls.

CHALLENGE: Have you lost the Spirit of adventure?

PRAYER: Oh God, create in me the zeal for Your work.
