STIR UP GOD'S GIFTS

2 TIMOTHY 1:1-7

Key Verse: "Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands" (2 Timothy 1:6).

The gift of God refers to the special gift of the Spirit bestowed on every friend of Jesus. This includes all spiritual resources necessary for the performance of important duties which God has given us. The purpose of God's gifts is to glorify God and to encourage, edify and comfort His Church. The gifts will only remain with us if we continue with Jesus and use them for the purpose of the work of His Kingdom.

The gifts can remain dormant in the life of a child if not properly used. The gifts of God in the life of friends of Jesus must not be kept redundant (unused). They are to be used to do great things in the house of God.

There are many gifts available to all true friends of Jesus such as - teaching, singing, writing, preaching, interceding, encouraging and lending a helping hand to others. The first thing to do is to identify your gifts and use them on a daily basis. To stir up your gifts, you must cultivate the attitude of thanking God for the gifts He has given you. Read and study the word of God daily. Daily exercise the gifts in you by using them to preach the gospel to sinners around you and working in the house of God. The more you work for God, the more He will increase His grace in your life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, strengthen me to use the gifts You have given me to the glory of Your Name.
